The setting of this hotel sets it aside from all the others in Bergamo Città Alta (the old town up on the hill). At the foot of the steep climb up from the old town towards San Vigilio, that is a spectacular walk either late in the afternoon or early in the evening, the hotel has a wonderful shady terrace... So what if the hotel seems outdated? When you chose an hotel, you want a clean room, a fair price, you want WI-FI, you want a quiet place in a walking distance from the heart of antique Bergamo, you want nice, friendly and helpful staff, and we got it all here. In addition you get a very nice restaurant, a... More

We stayed in this hotel only a night, as we landed in Bergamo and the following day we drove to Florence. We wanted a hotel in the Upper City and we found what we were looking for. The hotel is just few meters from the old city, and is located in a very quiet position. The staff is very friendly,... More

The rooms are as outdated as described in the other reviews but that doesn't really matter. What did matter was the fact that we didn't sleep at all since the mattresses were placed over a hardboard which was sagging in the middle so that the mattresses ended in an angle of about 30 degrees towards the middle. Too close for... More

More of a restaurant with rooms, and very well placed for exploring the old town. This is no luxury hotel, but it doesn't claim to be, and the prices are fair, both for the room and in the restaurant. The room and bathroom were rather dated, but clean and functional, and we had a superb meal despite arriving rather late.... More

we have visited Bergamo before and stayed at the Agnello D'Oro which we loved. This time it was fully booked so we chose Il Gourmet. Its a good location, extremely convenient for the airport bus ( about a 3 minute walk) Its so close to the Citta Alta walls that you can pretend you are actually within them and its... More

The other reviews give a pretty accurate impression of the place. The rooms themselves are adequate but remind me of college dormitory rooms from the 1960s and 70s. The furnishings are basic and institutional, but they do the job. Nothing inspiring, nothing awful here. A couple of the rooms (those on the west side on the second floor) have spectacular... More

Okay, the interiors and furnishings are dated and dull. However, this hotel is in a great location with beautiful views. Our biggest priority was sufficient air conditioning, and we were cool and comfortable in Room 23. Best of all, we had a private patio that we enjoyed. Yes, the funicular passed by every few minutes -- but we smiled and... More

This hotel is situated in a nice and convenient location but the rooms are awfully furnished and all the decoration is very sad. The price is too high and you have to pay 10 euros in addition for a very ordinary breakfast (without this being announced).
