The hotel is an old castle-like building located a short 15 minutes walk outside of the city centre. View from the rooftop is spectacular. Small hotel with a lot of charm. Interior is somewhat worn down, but that adds to the charm thing.

This hotel is about 15 minutes walk from central Santa Margherita. It's convenient, clean and pretty cheap. We were upgraded to a sea view room which was great, however this also meant that we received the noise from the nearby train tunnel exit. The curtains are pretty insufficient if you need darkness to sleep. Breakfast was sufficient and there was... More

The hotel is very old and has a very grand staircase, and I think at one time it was a private house. The room was clean, but tiny and the bathroom not very good. The rooms are decorated in a shabby chic style. The breakfast was fairly simple with nothing special and they did not have any fresh orange juice,... More

We stayed two nights and were positively surprised by how beautiful the hotel was. We stayed in a room with a view (number 30) which we highly recommend. Compared to other 3 star hotels we stayed in similiar places the room is very spacious, well maintained, bathroom clean and tidy, furniture classic suiting the building with lots of storage room.... We stayed here for two nights. The hotel is beautiful, it makes you feel as if you are in the 1800's, a royal in a castle. However, we were not treated like royals. When we arrived, the women asked for our name, she nodded and stuck her head out the window to my son and husband and spoke rudely to... More

Average. Reasonable value for money, clean and tidy. Booked a room with view, room small but for the money reasonable. Building obviously was a magnificent house originally but slightly past its best. No mention on website of adjacent train line which runs until fairly late. website states free parking and I was told when I e mailed them there was... More

Have to say we were very surprised to find it was actually an old castle. Room very clean, great location, beautiful views. Adequate breakfast and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Only 10 minute walk to the the main centre. Would recommend.

One of my favourite all time hotels in that price range. Elegant 19th castle complete with a beautiful hall with swords on the walls. My ensuite had with views of the ocean. Santa Margherita/Portofino is all about a bit of luxury and that was what the hotel felt like to me.

Enormous room and en-suite, antique furniture appropriate to the rooms and buildings. Our room had a superb view over the village and to the sea. Not all rooms do have this view so if booking ask for a sea view. Excellent continental breakfast. Staff very friendly.

When we pulled up to the address we were surprised to see that it actually was an old castle. We had a room for 4 2 adults and 2 kids (9&12). The room was spectacular - wonderful views large and clean. You have to pull your bags up some stairs but this is no big deal. The walk to town... More
