This is a very basic small family operated hotel situated in a very "high rent" district. It is somewhat amusing to read the reviews of those who complain about the fact that the hotel has seen better days (no question), offers lousy breakfasts (the coffee is not bad), and has no available parking (true in the summer). If you want... More

If ever there was a location that is just about perfect, it is certainly Portofino on the Ligurian coast of Italy. I recently stayed at the Albergo Nazionale, which was the most perfect hotel in the most perfect place. The room that I stayed in (room 14) overlooked the enchanting harbour from a small balcony on the first floor. The... More

You're paying for the fabulous location and the view from your room if you choose a sea view room, which is out of this world. However, for what it is (€240 a night even in October) the hotel really has seen better days. Furniture looks like it's forty years old and to say it's old fashioned is an understatement. With... Initially i was non-plussed by this hotel, but after a couple days they really won me over. 1st off parking is not possible near the hotel so you will be lugging your luggage a couple blocks over bumpy terrain and stairs. Additionally, parking is $25/day extra and this was not stated anywhere in our reservation (though expedia) so that was... More

My girlfriend and I stayed in five hotels while vacationing in Italy and this is the only one that clearly would deserve a four star rating (vs. three). The location of this hotel is perfection; right at the mouth of the bay, it’s the most attractive building on the bay overall. We paid for an upgrade to get room 10... More

We had a very comfortable room with a beautiful view . Our breakfast was simple, but delivered right on time to our room. Coffee was excellent! We did have a problem with our bed, when I pulled the owner aside to speak with him privately, he became very angry , assuming , I believe , that I was looking for a... More

We stayed here as a family of 6 in August. The location was perfect right on the harbour and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was simple but adequate and the hotel had a restaurant which provided good value for money food. The hotel staff were helpful and we enjoyed having breakfast with a particular staff member who was... More

Location is right at the harbor. We had one couple in Room 22 and one couple in Room 24, both were 2 floors above ground level. Each room had a sitting room with pull out couch and could have slept 4. Rooms had air-conditioner in the living room but not in the bedroom so we left the bedroom door open.... More

A little quirky - our room seemed to be somewhere in the 1980s. But we did ask for a seaview room - and thats worth it on its own. Clean and comfortable. Simple Breakfast served in the room which was nice and unusual nowadays. Portofino is not worth more than 24 hours really - the place is overrun by tourists... More
