This is a plain and simple hotel, but quite good value in my experience (£108 for three nights). My room there was small but adequate, with walls in a marine shade of blue and a mural over the bed depicting two rather amorous-looking dolphins. The breakfast room is also small with pleasant decor and, though there is a modest range... More

We rolled into Genoa without any reservations, so we visited a hotel suggested in a guidebook. There was no vacancy, so we wandered over to the Hotel Acquario, pulling our big bags with wheels down the clunky, cobblestone streets. The hotel is located off a very narrow street that leads into an even narrower street that's so small that it's... More

Booked a one night stay as my sister and I were embarking on a cruise from Genoa the following day. We are both in our 70's and were shocked when we arrived at this very rundown hotel to find that there was no lift and we were expected to lift 23kgs of luggage up a flight of stairs. There was... This hotel is good value for money. It is in a good location, it is a short walk to the harbour. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had plenty of space. There was noise from outside but not at night. The breakfast was nice.

Stayed here for a night before heading to cinque terra - couldn't have done more. Room was very compact and dated. Could hear noise outside and the receptionist didn't speak English. On the positive side it has a great location, close to the aquarium which is well worth a visit.

It says 3 stars, but for me even one is a lie.. just get in yesterday and after 2 minutes I get out immediately.. no way!! I get money back from booking.com after long talking between booking gentle lady service assistance and abrupt receptionist ; first time in over 10 years of traveling!!!

Dangerous, filthy location matches the hotel. Terrible staff, dirty rooms. Elevator for one person only? Keep looking, we paid 80 euro, not worth half that. Completely ruined our view of Genoa.

Run away! The single room was dingy, nothing worked, and there was dust and hair on floors and furniture indicating that it had not even been cleaned. I arrived late at night, so I felt I was safer staying than leaving on foot to find somewhere else. And that would have been the only option, since there was no internet,... More

We almost stayed at another hotel, but were to glad to have stayed at the Acquario. It was a great location with good security - the people were courteous, and the rooms were clean and orderly. I think as a traveler it was a good deal and I would stay there again. Also, very close by to the hotel is... More

I have no idea how this can qualify as a 3 star hotel! If your primary concern is having a hotel where the air conditioning works, then okay -- but you'll want the ac in part because if you open the windows, you get the full extent of the stench and noise rising from the street below. The rooms are... More
