The hostel is good but far from the center. You always have to take bus 40 or bus 640 after 9 pm. The rooms are normally for 8 persons but there are also rooms for 4 persons. Breakfast is 2 euro. There are big free lockers outside every room.

Prison - this is the word to describe this horrible, rude, place. You have to take a bus from the city centre to get there as it is about 900m above the city centre along a winding road. It would take you hours to walk. You can, however, walk down from the hostel (providing you don't get lost in the... More

N.B. This hotel is also known as Ostello Per La Gioventu Genova, and Youth Hostel Genova. Tripadvisor has it listed under TWO seperate hostels, this one, and also 'Genoa Youth Hostel'. THEY ARE THE SAME PLACE. I have put this review up on both to avoid confusion. The hostel being the only "affordable" place we could find that did not... More

The youth hostel has good beds. It is maintained and run well. No air conditioning in the rooms, so it can be quite hot. The atmosphere is office-like, and the dining-room not really comfortable to sit. The large terrace is, though, in the evenings. Walking uphill is tough, but the bus connection is very good. All in all worth it.

Very far from city center, but location/ view is amazing, top of the hill, very well connected by bus 40,640(night bus), bus time table, maps, bus tickets/group tickets/ day passes, sightseeing tours available at the reception, even a small library :), Staff was very helpful and friendly, free wifi, but never worked for my laptop, worked for S2 mobile but... It's a very large hostel, lots of vending machines, free wifi - couldn't connect in the rooms but worked ok in the canteen. Other thing in the canteen was lots of vending machines, some didn't work so well. Getting into town, it's beyond walking distance, maybe 10-15mins by bus to the centre.

Nice cheap clean hostel, plenty of showers and toilets, decent common area but no kitchen. They provide breakfast for €2 i think it was but seriously don't waste your €2 its not enough to feed a hamster... The hostel is quite far away so prepare to take the bus a lot!

I hated to not have wifi in the room, but besides that. You can have the 2 euro breakfast (which I did both nights). The place is very clean, it has big lockers for any size of backpack. Take into account that you will be spending at least 3 euros a day in buses to get to town and back... More

N.B. This hotel is also known as Ostello Per La Gioventu Genova, and Youth Hostel Genova. The hostel itself is clean with 8 bed dorms. From Genova - Brignole station, it is a 30 minute bus trip on the number 40 (at night buses 64, and 640). The bus goes right through the middle of the city, so it's quite... More

Very basic accomodation for young travellers who don't mind that this is no 5-star hotel. Generally helpful staff, who speak limited to good English. Not sure I'll stay here again but can recommend this hostel for short budget stays. Location: yes, it's a bit out of downtown. A 30-minute ride by bus 40, or a 15-minute trip by the Funicular...
