The hotel is conveniently located just next to the main railway station. The room was clean but a bit updated and location next to a large crossroad made it a bit noisy. Staff were friendly and breakfast ok, but I would not recommend the rooftop bar due to its atmosphere.

I would hate to stay in TA's #4. They put us in a converted broom closet, probably expecting us to trade up for more money. We treated it as an adventure, since we were only staying a very short time. At least the room was clean, and the restaurant is quite good, however.

The 4 Star Hotel Continental is run by the same company as the 5 Star Savoy Hotel next door. Both Hotels are within walking distance of the main Train Station. We booked a one bedroom apartment that has lounge/kitchen & cooking facilities & has plenty of space & two split air-conditioners that functioned well. Staff were excellent & very helpful... More

I don't give a '5' very often, but there's nothing to fault about this spotless, well located hotel. Staff all good, breakfast impressive and location just by the main train station couldn't be better. Genoa has its seedy areas. This isn't one - but they're nearby. Not dangerous, just a bit edgy. That's just how the town is. Highly recommended.

Hotel Continental is full of authentic Italian charm. Huge rooms and charming bathroom. This was the first hotel we have stayed in (this was our 4th hotel) that has had a kettle with tea and coffee, which was a nice bonus first thing in the morning. The lift must date back a number of years. Typical old fashioned lift where... More

The hotel is situated right across the principe train station. This is an asset because many interesting villages can be best reached by train. The hotel is clean, however the beds could be more comfortable. Breakfast is very good. Reception staff could be more welcoming, but are helpful nevertheless. Room service is fine and meals in trallalero restaurant very good.

I have quite a few quibbles about this hotel, which in my opinion makes this a 3 and not a 4 star hotel... The BIGGEST PROBLEM (and this is why the rating is so low) - rooms in the hotel are not soundproof. We stayed in two rooms on two different floors during our 1 week stay in the hotel... More

We enjoyed our 3 night stay immensely. Our room on the 4th floor was huge with several windows for lots of natural light. Of course you always enjoy a hotel more when you get a great room, but that aside, there are plenty of other reasons to like this hotel including: proximity to the train station, very good breakfast, and... Great value for money. Excellent breakfast and very good locaion near the railway station. Nice and kind staff. Combination of 19th century elegancy and modern equipment. I would highely recomend the hotel.

We stayed 3 nights here on our way by train from London to Elba. The hotel is right by the station and we found it a good base to walk round Genoa. I have read some comments on the area not being too safe but we always walked down Via Balbi to the centre of town and never had a... More
