I have quite a few quibbles about this hotel, which in my opinion makes this a 3 and not a 4 star hotel... The BIGGEST PROBLEM (and this is why the rating is so low) - rooms in the hotel are not soundproof. We stayed in two rooms on two different floors during our 1 week stay in the hotel... More

We enjoyed our 3 night stay immensely. Our room on the 4th floor was huge with several windows for lots of natural light. Of course you always enjoy a hotel more when you get a great room, but that aside, there are plenty of other reasons to like this hotel including: proximity to the train station, very good breakfast, and... Great value for money. Excellent breakfast and very good locaion near the railway station. Nice and kind staff. Combination of 19th century elegancy and modern equipment. I would highely recomend the hotel.

We stayed 3 nights here on our way by train from London to Elba. The hotel is right by the station and we found it a good base to walk round Genoa. I have read some comments on the area not being too safe but we always walked down Via Balbi to the centre of town and never had a... More

We spent nearly 3 weeks traveling through Europe, and stayed in many different style hotels. Some were modern and trendy, others basic and friendly, one or two were more substandard than I would have liked, but THIS was my favorite hotel. It is elegant in true old fashioned style. It reminded me of a classic old hotel that one might... More

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights before joining a cruise. The rooms were very spacious and clean and it was well located for the railway station. We took the train to Santa Margherita which itself is lovely and then got the bus to Portofino. The savoia hotel next door has a lovely roof terrace with great views and... More

We stayed here a for a couple of nights before joining our cruise. The hotel was clean and comfortable with an amazing old fashioned lift (remember to close the doors properly!). What is not widely advertised and what was the highlight of our stay was the fact that you could use the facilities of the neighbouring 'Hotel Savoia'. It is... More

Great hotel with very friendly staff. Unfortunately we were only able to stay here one night, but it was an excellent hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The windows had metal shutters controlled via a switch that can be used to reduce noise and light from outside, which made the room very quiet. It cost €25 to store the car... More

Loved this hotel, It was really well built and very well maintained, clean, not noisy and you can use the hot tubs on the roof terrace of the Savoia next door. The staff at both hotels were great. It seems to be from the early 20th c and has an art nouveau feel to it. Italy seems to have lots... More
