I planned a 2 week trip to Europe for myself and 12 and 15 year old sons. We visited France, Switzerland and Italy and stayed at 6 different hotels during our travels. I was on a budget and chose each hotel by reading reviews on TripAdvisor and I can honestly say that each place met or beat my expectations.
However, Hotel La Vigna, which had no review was our favorite. No, it is not on the beach and it is not a luxurious hotel, but, if it is relaxation, excellent food, and a great family atmosphere that you are looking for, then this is your place.
The hotel is atop a mountain and has spectacular views of the Ligurian Sea. It has been owned and operated by the Cembrano family for 40 years and they really do everything to make you feel welcome and at home. You can choose a plan with breakfast, or breakfast and dinner. My idea at first was to take the boys to dinner off the property but we ended up having dinner, (4 or 5 course meal, we were stuffed!) at the hotel both nights... more
