We loved this plain little hotel in the Cinque Terra region of Italy. It is not fancy, but our room was really large by European standards, with a large, if plain, bath. It was spotlessly clean. There are some stairs to the terrace level where our room was located (Enrico, the really charming innkeeper, says the stairs are free, and... More

This place was exactly what we needed. We rented a car to drive from Milan to Florence via Cinqueterre and needed a well located place to stay in Cinqueterre with parking included, since cars are forbidden in town. Locanda del Sole is located in Riomaggiore, one if the 5 towns of the Cinqueterre and has its own parking. It is... More

We stayed at Locanda del Sole for four nights to enable us to explore the beautiful Cinque Terre coast line. It really didn't disappoint. Although the hotel is situated at the top of the main street leading down to the harbour of Riomaggiore, it's not a long walk and at least the climb keeps you energised! The free car parking... Top spot in every way!! -If arriving by train, be prepared to go up!! This position is worth the effort, and Enrico was most gracious lugging our packs up the steps to the top room. The room is small but very clean and adequate, and the beds were very comfortable. Perhaps the only draw-back (especially for Australians used to having... More

Hotel del Sole is a small, family-ran place. Located near the center of Riomaggiore, it is still close enough to the main Cinque Terre Road to have parking spots for customer cars - a rarity in this region. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Enrico gave us a good overview of the town and things to do. The breakfast... More

The Cinque Terre area has 5 quaint towns located on hillsides. The town of Riomaggiore is no exception. The Locanda del Sole's owner, Enrico and his wife are very welcoming. We were traveling with friends that had stayed with them many times, and we felt like we were part of their extended family. Enrico is very helpful with suggestions on... More

Think Riomaggiore, think steps. I was so grateful when, upon arrival, Enrico took both our heavily laden backpacks and carted them up the flight of stairs for us. Lovely view of the town, the surrounding hills, and the SEA! Lovely attentive hosts, speak good eng, excellent local tips and very clean.

Enrico was so helpful from the minute I booked - sent excellent instructions on how to get to the hotel from the station. The room was lovely, clean, comfortable with a veranda which was great in the evening to sit with a bottle of wine and relax. Breakfast was good, better than most places. Riomaggiore is a really pretty place... More

We were a group of three couples and we had adjoining rooms with a shared terrace. The rooms were clean and nicely maintained and our group enjoyed the view from the terrace in the evenings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which was made even better by the terrific hosts, Enrico and Maria Dolores. Enrico was very helpful, providing us with... More

This hotel was a great stay. The room was spacious, clean and well taken care of. We had a great terrace off of our room which was great to relax on. The hosts really made the hotel. They met with us to give us all the info on hiking in the area, marked it all on a map and it... More
