We arrived in Manarola by car, our tour company driver phoned ahead as we arrived and Giuliana was waiting for us near the church. There is limited access to cars, our driver was allowed in to drop us off. We were prewarned by the company to travel light and not to take our suitcases, which we left at our hotel... More

This was't hotel nor B&B. It was an old apartment with steep narrow stairs and NO ELEVATOR. Don't try this if you have any luggage at all. And in the room, we found ants everywhere!!! On the floor, on the bed, everywhere!!!! It was so disgusting... You need to bring your passport to the restaurant near the train station and... More

I had to cancel my booking from this apartment due to an injury as it was unsuitable for me. I had given my credit card details to the local booking agent on Manorola, only to be told that payment had to in cash. After cancelling I was told I had to pay a percentage as it was short notice to... More

PROS - Basic room with white ceramic tiled floor- nothing too special. It had a tiny balcony overlooking the town, bay and opposite hillside which was a great view. - It was about 100 steps down from the very top of the town where the carpark is and about 30 steps up to the room itself – very narrow and... This was my favorite leg of our Italy trip. I loved hiking from town to town. When we were there, the segment of the trail from Manarola to Corniglia was shut down due to landslides (this has been a problem for a while as my cousin was there the previous summer and the same portion was closed) and the trains... My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in September. There are lots of stairs leading up to this hotel, as others have stated; however, the stairs leading from the road (which is really a walkway) to your room is at best 5% of the total number of stairs you'll climb just to get from the train to the... We stayed here in September, and the climb to the rooms are exactly that, a climb! We were thrilled with view and the small veranda that opened onto a view of Manarola and the sea. Although not modern we found our room clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a small table and a closet to store our luggage.... More

Be aware that this room requires climbing many stairs to access it. Even going the shortest way there is a steep hill to climb before attacking over 40 steps in the streets and then 2 steep flights to the room. I loved the exercise it required to get to the room and the view is the best. The bathroom had... More

We just spent 3 days in Manarola and stayed at this location with our 9 and 20 year old girls. We stayed in rooms 1 & 2 which are beside each other and have balconies facing the sea over the town. This is a perfect location to enjoy Manarola from, and we highly recommend those rooms. Note that my wife... More

My husband and I backpacked the entire month of September through France, Italy, Germany & Belgium. The Cinque Terre area was highly recommended to us by numerous people. It exceeded it's hype 10 fold! Part of it is owed to this place. When I found Il Porticciolo on the internet I was under the impression that the three rooms they... More
