This hotel is very near to the centre of Trieste / a little hard to find as it is accecable through very small street. We had room of comfortable size with double bed. Check in has to be done by reception of Urban Hotel Design, on the other side of the street - it took a little bit until we... More

We booked to stay in the James Joyce Hotel in January, on arrival I was told we would be getting a free upgrade to the hotel which they partner (called Urban Design) and where they have a 24hr reception. The hotel itself is located in the heart of the city, so I can't fault the location from a tourist point... More

We had two nights in this hotel, which is very centrally located to the 'old' town in Trieste. Knowing that the hotel and reception was via Urban Design was very important to finding it. Driving in central Trieste was not easy. The reception staff at Urban Design were very helpful. Our room was adequate, but we were a bit disappointed with... More

Accommodation: we had booked the triple room for €89 but upon arrival at reception were told that our room was double booked. Apparently I was notified by email that there was a problem with my debit card a week after I received booking confirmation . This email must have gone to my junk mail as I wasn't aware of the... A very central hotel to just about everything in Trieste central city. Only metres walk to the main square. Very comfortable room that promised everything that was advertised. Breakfast was very good in the costy breakfast room. The only downside - if any, was I had programmed our GPS to find this particular street, which of course is pedestrian only.... More

We stayed at the James Joyce for one night in early August 2013 as a waystop coming from Croatia on our way to Bolzano. We had a great stay. The hotel staff, including the reception staff at the Urban Design hotel are super friendly. The rooms were nice and corresponded to the pictures posted online. There`s a little work to... More

Great little hotel in fantastic location. Every body was very helpful - from the receptionist in the Urban Hotel where we checked in - up to the handy man who helped us with the closed safe. Thank you, we will come back! Only litte downside - the walls are quite thin and the digital key makes a "hell of a... More

great location. smallish but practical, stylish and clean room. wifi and air conditioning worked like promised. walls not the most sound-proof. breakfast is as good as it can be without a dedicated kitchen (i.e. no cooked meals). excellent coffee!

We stayed here on a weekend away with friends. The position is great and we could walk to everything you wanted to see in Trieste and it is also only a couple of minutes from the main square and the sea. The welcome is a little low key as the hotel has no reception and you have to check in... More

We were in a room at the fifth floor, with the elevator reaching only the fourth. The room was small and not particularly comfortable and was not design at all, no matter what they write on their web... Service friendly and attentive, but a tad slow.
