We booked the hotel before arriving in Trieste, but on our arrival, the reception manager said he could not find a record of our reservation. He still arranged a room for us, but it was a room that had an interior window into an air shaft. It was quite dark, and it was very difficult to get any air circulation.... more

Although a fascinating, multicultural, literate city that is packed full of contentious and intriguing history and politics; a place located in a stunning setting; and a transport node sited supremely well for onward travel to Slovenia and Croatia, Trieste isn't a tourist destination and therefore, isn't well served by hotels.
