WHERE do I even begin with this hotel? Perhaps I should start with the fact that the elevator does NOT go to any floor, but instead to landings between the floors, so that if you have any heavy luggage whatsoever, you will be forced to haul it not just up the steps to the elevator (yes, you read that right...... more

If this hotel rates number 8 of 52 there must be some godawful hotels in Trieste, and my stay here confirms my suspion that Italian stars are meaningless. Friends, I recall an excellent one star hotel in the Canareggio district of Venice that was profoundly superior to this. I just wish I recalled the name, because if I had I... more

This hotel is in a great location just a short walk away from the bus or train station. The hotel staff were very helpful. The rooms were clean but a little outdated and in need of modernisation.Breakfast was adequate and typical of a normal continental breakfast. Trieste is a beautiful city and certainly worth a visit. more

I stayed in this hotel in Sept 07 with two friends. We were in Pula in Croatia and found it a little quite so headed to Trieste instead. Trieste is a beautiful city, once you get past the ugly, industrial docks. The main square in the town is fabulous, there was also alot of street entertainment at night both in... more

Trieste was a wonderful surprise – a beautiful city. I wish we’d spent more time than the day and a half we had there. It was less crowded than other cities in Italy and the prices were lower. Our travel agent chose the Hotel Roma because it was close to the station for our next stop, Venice. The hotel is... more

I've stayed in probably a dozen hotels in Trieste in my time and this is the worst of he three-stars I've tried. Perhaps it was just my room, but the furnishing was spartan, underwhelming and didn't feel welcoming at all. The bathroom was nothing more than adequate. The hotel is similar to many 'business-class' 1960s-70s hotels in Italy - needing... more

Trieste was a wonderful town to include in our trip to Italy. It is not such a tourist town which made it so pleasant. It has many things to see such as churches, a castle, museums, plazas and many old interesting buildings. You can take one of the oldest trams in Europe up a steep hill to the town of... more

The hotel Roma is an average hotel and the various descriptions found on the net are fairly accurate. I only found one that said there was tea/coffee in the rooms. There was but very minimal. Take your own makings. This hotel scores in it's location. About 100yds from the bus station so unless you have very heavy luggage don't get... more

I was recently in Trieste on business and stayed at Hotel Roma. The staff was friendly but often slow to respond to my needs. The rooms are glorified dorm rooms - small & efficient (you get what you pay for). If you get stuck in a handicapped room, switch rooms as soon as you can - the showers in these... more
