The Duchi d'Aosta is ideally located right in the centre of Trieste on the Piazza dell'Unitá d'Italia, about 100 metres from the Adriatic Sea. It is small for a "grand hotel" but boy is it pretty. Everything is classic, old and traditional but also crisp and clean. The reception area is small, two bronze dogs guard the counter. After you... More

An old lady in desperate need of a substantial make up. The building is nice, and so are some lovely parts (the wooden staircase or the bar), but the rest is unsatisfactory. The room (a so-called junior suite) was small, just like the bathroom, and ran down. Furthermore, the noise coming from the street (at least during the weekends) is... More

stayed at this hotel last week for three nights, the room was very small and outdated, also in desperate need of repair. I was at the side of the hotel and had a very bad fitting window which made the room very loud, the street at one end of the ally and the street performers from the main square who... More

First the good--our room was pretty and clean, had good paid Wi-Fi and pretty good A/C. We started off on a bad foot. Although we had ordered and confirmed that the hotel would send a car to pick us up at the airport, the car didn't arrive and we took a taxi in. Twice the woman at the desk said... More

Very typical hotel of , at least, the 19th century but well managed. There are semi floors but the lift stops where you need it ( not like in most Central Europe hotels ) .It is true that it is not a Marriott , a Sheraton...but you are aware of it when you book.A lot of charm , very good and... Right on the main square in Trieste, in the centre of restaurants and shops. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. Staff were efficient and friendly. Great western style breakfast in the Harry's Bar & Grill downstairs. A wonderful base for sightseeing and shopping.

I've spend a night before at the Grand Hotel Duchi D'Aosta in Trieste about two and a half years ago, and everything I wrote back then is still very relevant. It still struggles to balance the values, traditions and standards of a bygone age with that of a modern hotel. Does it manage it, no, not really. "Grand" as in... More

This pleasant and very centrally located hotel offers pleasant enough rooms at fair prices, very nice breakfasts and excellent service including free InterNet. It should immediately be explained that a junior suite is in fact a large room. Located in the central square of this very dynamic and lively city I do believe that they offer good value despite the furniture... More

This is an old very nice hotel in Trieste city center, near the square and close to the seaside. Brass, marbel and wood old style - no key-card and very personal. Breakfast in the restaurant with the same atmosphere. This is a hotel to return to!

This hotel is located right in the Piazza Unità D'Italia. It is a perfect location! The hotel staff spoke English and was warm and efficient. The hotel has an old world charm but is being well kept up. There is a marvelous warm indoor thermal pool with sauna and an awesome shower. This is a perfect retreat after a day... More
