The Holiday Inn Trieste-Duino offered a basic, no frills place to rest my head. I was in the Duino/Trieste area for two nights and needed a moderately priced hotel where I could be somewhat familiar with their services (thus my familiarity with Holiday Inn). The staff are somewhat aloof and are unbothered by your patient waiting by the desk. I don't think this is an indication of their lack of service but rather their cultural lease on life that they'll get to things--and others--when they're good and ready. No harm in slowing down and enjoying life's little nuances. This was one of them.

Check-in is quick. If you have bulky luggage, it is to your advantage to take it to your floor in installments. The elevator is in a narrow corner of the lobby and can -comfortably- hold a single individual with an average-sized suitcase. If you have more luggage than a simple bag, consider making multiple trips so that you don't get stuck in the elevator.
