The canal grande is a charming hotel in the middle of Modena. Simple with regal italien designs, like the beds and artwork. It feels like a grand home. A bit old it is not updated and that may bother some travelers, but it is very italien and clean. Service good, vLue for money . Rooms big. Must see the Enzo... More

If you're complaining about Hotel Canalgrande you clearly should stick to your modern, dull and faceless chain hotels. Walking into the foyer you're greeted with frescoes, marble and impeccably dressed staff making you feel like you have drifted into the Modena of old. Check in was smooth and even though we arrived early our room was ready. On the way... More

This is a really stylish hotel full of Italian panache and elegance. Very friendly helpful staff from the car parking to simply giving us a large bottle of water when we arrived hot and bothered in reception. Beautiful grounds and a great bar to relax in.

I usually don't give many excellent reviews but I feel that this place is worth one. Between the price, atmosphere and cleanliness. I enjoyed my stay here. The wifi had it's issues the first day but than it was smooth sailing. It has a beautiful outdoor area and a very nice bartender. The breakfast had a great selection and the... More

This is an excellent old school hotel built in what was formerly a convent on a quiet street in the centre of Modena. The rooms are excellent, the staff are friendly, there is on-site free parking and its a 5 minute stroll to the centre of the city. The room I stayed in was in excellent condiiotn and appeared to... We booked this last minute whilst still travelling to Modena, great value, but even if you paid full price this hotel offers a glimpse of the days of "The Grand Tour " the style of the building is still evident, stylish rooms, great reception staff (knew where I could get a proper haircut) and a breakfast room to die for... I recently stayed for one night at Hotel Canalgrande, which I found here on TripAdvisor. Most of the reviews are quite accurate in reporting that this 300 year old structure offers a great deal of charm in the public areas, though could the rooms really could use some remodeling. I was warmly welcomed upon arrival and the check-in process was... More

This hotel was probably great 30 years ago, too bad the owners let it slip into disrepair. The rooms are beyond dated, it's truly like stepping back in time. Everything about them is dated. The furniture, the finishings, the bedding. I honestly don't think anything has been changed for decades including the mattresses on the beds. The room was extremely... More

Wow! Really felt like we were in Italy! This is an old villa with one of the best patios and garden areas we saw on our trip. We had a room on the third floor, clean and modern baths where needed. The decor was like someones own villa, nice, clean and not modern. We had a small patio outside our... More

The hotel is well located in the historic centre of Modena. Is an old hotel, that could do better with some renovations. The staff is friendly. My room was small, and clean. I didn't have a reservation but I got the last single one. Small, as well as the bathroom. No view, although it had a window, it was closed... More
