Some reviewers suggested "worn" or "tired" and used words like "adequate" . Our experience was that everything was top-notch. The public rooms are indeed antique with frescoed ceilings and beautiful wooden fittings. Also a sun terrace which we used even in February! Our room which was a "standard" double was large with a lovely spacious tiled bathroom. All very clean and... More

The hotel is well located in Modena, about a 7-10 minute stroll to the main piazza. The hotel building dates to AD 1530, and the interior decoration reflects its heritage. The hotel has a lovely courtyard in the back. The other amenities are sufficient. The rooms are nice, breakfast is good, included in the price of the room. and includes... More

A perfect location and nearby the centre of Modena. The Hotel has an old fashioned/Grand Hotel style and the rooms are really spacious, but the best thing for me was the comfortability of the bed. It was what I needed.

After reading a few reviews, we almost had second thoughts. Looks a little worn out from the outside, but is nice inside. Must have been truely a grand hotel, and they are restoring it. Our room was very nice and comfortable. The staff are very helpful, resourceful and speak English well. The breakfast provided was fine. We came to Modena... More

I stayed for two nights. Basically it a nice an clean 3 stars hotel well located. The breakfast was fresh and tasty and was a nice surprise to my expectations. The only bad thing i can say regarding my stay is that the rooms needs serious renovation.

Budget 10-15 minutes to check in and out. It is always a chaos at the front desk. This time, they had given the key for the room assigned to me to someone else. They called the rooms of everyone who had checked in in the past 15 minutes to see if everyone was in the correct room. Check out was... More

Great location. Great bartender Gavino. Took excellent care of us and gave us great restaurant recommendations. Also corrected Molly's Italian. Somewhat dated with very small room but close to the town center and great restaurants and shopping. Would definitely ask for a room upgrade.

Yes, it's a bit old-fashioned, but the staff are very professional and it's really clean. The room was really nice and the breakfast was also very good, served by a charming gent full of smiles. The hotel itself is under a five minute walk to the duomo. Around the corner are some lovely bars and restaurants. Best of all is... More

The entrance and public rooms to this hotel are beautifully decorated in the grand old Italian style with high ceilings, chandeliers and frescos. However this is where the grandeur ends. The bedrooms themselves are in need of a little updating or at least some TLC. We stayed in a superior twin room, but the room was fairly small with no... More

This old worldly hotel was formally a monastery . What a great find. The foyer is just gorgeous. Our room was a good size as the bathroom. Breakfast adequate , cuppacino excellent. Front desk kindly arranged a tour for us at last minute . The hotel was so clean and the garden was nice to sit outside. Walking distance to... More
