Hubby and I stayed there for a week last year. We were new (and moving) to the area and this was a great location. The courtyard was beautiful and the hotel is located near the duomo (so in the city center) and near a large park. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was wonderful. Walking distance to tons of... More

Stayed here for my 50th birthday, and we had a wonderful time. This hotel is full of character, with friendly, helpful staff and immaculately maintained rooms. You can eat at their own restaurant, or explore the many fine eateries nearby. Relaxing with a drink prior to an evening in the salon is recommended. The old streets around Corso Canalgrande are... Traditional hotel not in the first flush or mad youth with excellent service standards. Modena is a nice city to stroll around and this hotel is well placed to do just that. breakfast was highlighted by simply brilliant ham. So close to parma it had to be! A real treat Definitely go back.

We stayed here 2 nights to explore Modena which has a good atmosphere and plenty of interest. The hotel atmosphere however is austere by modern standards but the beautifully adorned bedroom and adjoining bathroom were perfectly acceptable and stocked to a reasonable standard. There is a patio and garden; breakfasts were mediocre and taken indoors. It has to be borne... More

An instant wow as you enter the building, high, painted ceilings and huge oil paintings on the walls in the foyer and the various lounge and breakfast rooms. We were greeted and checked-in by a friendly efficient manager in perfect English, some other staff members spoke very little English, but with our few words of Italian and helpfulness on all... A grand hotel built within a former palace. Spacious rooms looking out upon a courtyard.. The staff is always helpful. I met the owner and had several excellent conversations with him. There is a restaurant on the property individually owned, which has a Ferrari race car theme. Excellent food. The hotel breakfast buffet is fantastic and the morning staff quickly... More

The inside of this hotel has beautiful artwork everywhere. We arrived before check-in and the staff tagged our bags to be put in our rooms when available so we could check our Modena. They suggested a restaurant that was open for lunch since it was Italy's independence day and most were closed. Great recommendation! Our two rooms were connected by... More

We enjoyed staying at this centrally located hotel. It has old fashioned, genteel quality, none of the flashy, high gloss finish of contemporary boutique style hotels. The building and decor are traditional Italian, many painted ceilings and silk damask wall coverings. Outside, there is an attractive courtyard and terraced garden. Our room would be described, by some, as small and... More

A classic four star hotel, the Canalgrande is quite centra, with a nice quiet atmosphere. The double room we had was quite spacious, with a nice large bathroom with shower and had a nice view of their little garden. Free parking inside the ZTL was an added bonus.
