OK: the balance between cost and comfort is an equation called value. This hotel is not good value but it is cheap. The rooms do not look like the photos. Mine was cramped, dark, stuffy and overlooked an internal roof. I can live with that. But the air conditiong was so bad I needed to go out and buy a... More

This hotel was clearly a grande dame in its hey day and the quality from a bygone age is evident; beautiful details such as the painted ceilings, ornate plaster coving, rotating entrance door, wooden panelling and chandeliers would not be found in a cheap hotel let alone one so spacious and close to the historic centre. It's crying out to... More

The foyer seats were filthy and have cigarette burns in them as your welcome. The room was dirty with dust, marks, stains and with carpet that hadn't been vacuumed for years. The walls were covered in hessian which makes you itch like the bedspread does. The room was in an attic with a tiny window half boarded up so it's... More

Hotel was far away from train station. If you do not take a bus or sth like that the walking would be very difficult. But it is very near to historical center. Hotel have very very old furniture. The room was gloomy. Breakfast was very poor.

the rooms are large with attractive antique furniture, though some might just see old stuff - it really depends on the way you see things. Everything, except the carpet, was clean and well cared for. A bit of money spent on replacing the carpets would make a lot of difference. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was... More

The hotel is very well located, a short stroll from the Piazza Maggiore etc. The linens and bathroom are very clean. The breakfast offers a good choice (eggs, toast, ham, cheese, yoghurt, cereals, croissants, rolls, tinned fruit), with unlimited tea and coffee. The ceilings are high - nice in the rooms - and the bed was comfortable. Staff were helpful... More

Stayed five nights at the Palace Hotel in April 2014. Absolutely fantastic. A superb hotel full of old world character. Very clean with a change of towels every day. Staff very helpful and professional. Breakfast excellent. Perfect location in lively city centre. WIFI in bedroom was good.

Ok, so in Bologna for a business trip. I had a meeting close by so I found this place. It looked promising on booking.com. When we got there, it was a whole different story. The hotel is very old and has probably never been refurbished since the begining of the last century (by statement of the receptionist), when it was... More

It's a great situation as far as Bologna is concerned, but it is in serious need of refurbishment. The owners are doing nothing to improve more or less everything. It's not cheap but could just about pass for a backpackers hostel. Pretty dirty, carpets are totally worn out, breakfast miserable, nothing really works and the service is slow, amicable but... More

I choose this hotel because of the location - in the very center, but on the little street, where there are not many tourists and drunk teenagers (bologna is a student city). Spacious lobby, nice machines on the every flour where it is possible to buy water or some sweets anytime) rather big room and a great deal for money
