After reading a brief review and recomendation on this Hotel on Mario Batali's Web site I made reservations for 5 nights to celebrate the New Year with my husband in beautiful Bologna, location is great, but our room unfortunately was not, as we tried to sleep the air conditioning (very noise by the way) blows cold air directly into the... more

We liked everything about it. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Our GPS took us right there and parking was in a small locked bay right next door. Great location to the Piazza and shopping. We just walked in as we knew they would not be busy after Christmas and got a great rate. more

This hotel has been around since about 1350, so they must be doing something right. It is well-located and the staff is generally helpful. There was a flood in our room the first day while we were out, so we were moved to the next room, which also sprouted a leak no sooner had we moved in. Perhaps the plumbing... more

Lovely little hotel in an absolutely fabulous central location - just around the back of the Piazza Maggiore. I've stayed in many hotels in Bologna - I come here every year for a Bookfair - and this is the nicest hotel I've stayed in. Helpful front desk staff, a good buffet breakfast and clean, well appointed rooms. If you're lucky... more

Its all about location with this hotel. It far to pricey for the quality of hotel. Its a 3 star hotel with a 4 star grade in a 5 star location. Cheap looking fake wood floor in the rooms, sparse lobby and small dining room and not much to look at. Clean and in a great location, is it worth... more

Very lovely and helpful staff. Reasonably spacious, modern and comfortable rooms. The hotel is ideally located, but don't try to drive there yourself without GPS. The only place we stayed that we had to pay for a wireless connection. more

After staying at a couple of other "charming" hotels in Italy, it was nice to come here and be pampered a bit more. The room was quite modern and the bathroom had great amenities such as a hairdryer that actually works and nice toiletries. The hotel is in an amazing location, and the staff was good about offering us restaurant... more

We flew into Bologna and stayed at the Al Cappello Rosso while we were adjusting to the 9 hour time difference from LA. The room was quiet, and dark (which we appreciated since we were sleeping into the afternoon). It is located within walking distance to historic sites in Bologna, as well as to shopping. The staff was friendly and... more

We found this hotel to be everything we expected. The location was a delight. It's very quiet and only about 2 minutes away from the main piazza. The rooms were very modern and clean. The staff were professional and helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel to those who prefer a small, modern, boutique hotel. more

We stayed at the Capello in November. The room was modern, pleasant if not a bit dark. Location is very central in a quiet back street location. It was a busy weekend and a number of our other choices were fully booked. Capello quoted about 220 Euro pn, extortionate for what it is! And it sums up the hotels attitude... more
