My wife and I stayed at the Royal Hotel Carlton in June this year. It was the second time I have stayed at this hotel in the last three years. The lobby, hallways and rooms are nicely appointed and very clean. Staff is always attentive to detail and always willing to assist in any manner possible. This year I staying... More

We were on a 3 night visit essentially to Ravenna but stayed the first night in Starhotel Excelsior opposite train station and 3rd here on our return. We much preferred Star Hotel. Room was recently refurbished, fresh, roomy (we were upgraded) and comfortable. The reception staff were very friendly and the breakfast was good. The Royal Hotel in comparison was... More

Our second visit to the Royal Carlton was all we hoped for. Our first visit two years ago was great but complicated by HEAVY snows which closed down the city. This time the weather was picture perrfect. A few light showers were no problem thanks to umbrellas provided by the hotel staff. The Junior Suites on the upper floors have... More

We had a 4 day stay here in march and found the hotel to be very good.firstly its only a five minute walk to the train station. The breakfast was fine, with both hot and cold foods and is set in a smart area. the rooms were fine and were kept clean by the staff. a special word to Angelo... More

This hotel was well appointed and service was attentive. My biggest complaint is the high speed internet. I was there for two weeks on a business trip and had to renew my high speed wifi every two days because they would not allow me to do it for the duration. Not to mention it stopped on the exact second that... More

It is 5 minutes from the railway station. Superior rooms are ok, bathroom with all amenities. Breakfast just good and limited room service. Parking is available under the hotel. We think it is the best option in Bologna, with great location (10 minutes to city center by foot)

Stayed just one Friday night here. Parking is available under the hotel which is a bonus if travelling by car. Is a little awkward to reach the parking as there is a one way street in the way. Best to pull into the hotel driveway and they will assist. The hotel is not new but the room fit out is... More

Only stay here if you dislike air condition. I am staying here for a convention and they are charging $540 a night for this OUTDATED hotel, no a/c at night and charge extra for wifi. Front desk looked at me like I was from Mars when asking him why there is no A/C. telling me this time of year they... More

We were a group of ten people who stayed for 3 nights. The rooms where spacious, clean and nice (the Italian dubbing of all tv channels one can not blame the hotel). The barthroom as well. The service where good, the breakfast was good. I would definately recommend it.

I'm very picky about giving out 5 star ratings. This is a very nice hotel but does not compare to some of the 5 star hotels I have stayed in. It is centrally located, very clean, with adequately sized rooms and a very friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to Bologna.
