My family (2 adults and 2 children) spent 3 1/2 weeks in Italy this past summer. We stayed in only one hotel: Albergo San Domenico in Urbino (the rest of the trip we stayed in apartments or with family). The only positive aspect was the location. But the town is not big, so staying elsewhere in town is a short... more
This hotel is wonderfully situated, has the benefit of private parking and the rooms are clean. Otherwise it's awful. We chose this hotel because it is shown in 'red' in the Michelin Guide which indicates that it is particularly pleasant! It isn't. We knew the minute we walked in and saw the reception area that we had made a terrible... more
We stayed for only one night, unfortunately, but found it to be almost perfect. The location is the best being at the top of the town directly across the piazza from the Ducal Palace and having private gated parking in the courtyard. It was a bit of a thrill to drive all the way to the top of an ancient... more
The location is perfect, right in the middle of the central square, in front of the palazzo ducale. The reserved enclosed parking lot is very convenient (and extremely rare in such a central location in a medieval town). Staff was friendly and useful in indicating restaurants. We reserved a room for 2 adults and 2 kids and we got a... more
Great location in town centre opposite Ducal Palace. Large bedroom, a little old fashioned but very clean, comfortable bed and on site car parking. Ideal base to visit the town but one night in Urbino was enough. Good choice for breakfast. Recommended. more
We were transferred here from the Hotel Bonconte due to water problems. The rooms are part of an old convent in the ducal palace, pretty amazing. Comfortable beds, not enough towels. We paid the Hotel Bonconte rates (substantially less) so we were pleased. The staff was very helpful, air conditioning worked well, beds were comfortable! more
Let's face it, the only thing to see in Urbino is the Palazzo Ducale, right across the street from this hotel; no one but a devoted Raphaelite would spend more than one night in Urbino, I should think. And, with the Palazzo on top of a steep hill, and the prospect of billions of cars trying to get up there... more
We had reservations for the Hotel Bonconte but were asked to change to the Albergo because of an ill guest. I believe both facilities are jointly owned. The Albergo is a 400 year-old former convent where all the rooms face onto a large enclosed courtyard (where parking is available) The rooms are large but austere. They are very clean and... more
This hotel operate a cheating and deceiving policy!!1) I booked a "Junior Suite" and got a normal dbl. room with a sad view to the parking yard at a price 71 euro more than the pleasant dbl. room I had booked for our friends at the same hotel. The difference was that the Junior suite had an electric kettle, but... more
