Orsa Maggiore was truly a great place. The service is good and the staff are very welcoming! We would definitely recommend it's maggiore to other female travelers who wants to experience Rome from a comfortable area and in walking distance from everything! Everything is just tip top at Orsa Maggiore!

This hostel is great; the workers are really nice and very helpful, the neighborhood is awesome, the rooms are spacious. Sometimes there is music in the courtyard which is cool. If you go to bed early there might be some noise from the streets but it's really not a problem. The bathroom doors don't lock but hopefully people know to... More

This women only hostel is comfortable because it is spacious and quiet. The rooms are big but the beds are very narrow. The showers and bathrooms were not very clean, that was my biggest disappointment. The included breakfast is good, mostly because of the coffee. The best part is the location, it is near to more or less everything and... More

I stayed at this hostel for 3 nights and had a pleasant stay. Although we got a taxi to our hostel, it was pretty easy to locate as it's just off the main road after you cross the bridge. It's location is ideal and walking to main attractions is possible but may take you about 30 minutes. Although it seems... More

I stayed here for 3 nights and had a pleasant experience. Clean and tidy rooms, a wardrobe turned locker with plenty of space for luggage. Basic breakfast from 7 till 10 am offering toast, cornflakes, yoghurts, hot drinks etc. Quite a quiet hostel. Although entertainment in the courtyard very interesting. Walking distance to major attractions. Were never actually given a... More

I'm a recent college grad, and I'm a fairly low -maintenance traveler--just give me something safe, quiet, and inexpensive. Orsa definitely met these standards, as I always felt comfortable there, even walking back late at night. Noise levels varied depending on the room, but they were never bad, and our fellow guests were pretty quiet and not of the hard-partying... More

I stayed here for four nights. It was simple, clean and quiet. Friendly staff. No bunk beds was a plus. A good location, handy for Trastevere, the river (made orientation easy) and most other places I wanted to see. A nice courtyard. Wi fi was only available in limited places and was a bit slow. Public transport to some places... More

Orsa Maggiore is a very friendly, relaxed and safe place to stay! Its very quiet and very central and easy to find, because its close to the Tiber. Facilities are simple but ok for the price. Showers and bathroom facilities could have been cleaner and better looked after. Simple breakfast with great coffee, that can also be eaten downstairs in... More

First, it's very difficult to find the place. Not just for a tourist like me, but for an italian taxi driver with a gps. In that neighborhood at night there was no one at all. I'm glad I took a cab and didn't walk. The pillows aren't real pillows, they're a piece of foam covered with the sheet cover. The... More

Unfortunately we were very upset about this hostel. The bathrooms were very dirty, like hair on the toilet seat, no hygenic towels (even though there were electric towel dispenser, which didn't work), mouldy showers and dirt all over the floor. The rooms were simple but ok. The plain brekfast was ok as well. Wlan just on the coridors available. All... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
