Orsa Maggiore is a very friendly, relaxed and safe place to stay! Its very quiet and very central and easy to find, because its close to the Tiber. Facilities are simple but ok for the price. Showers and bathroom facilities could have been cleaner and better looked after. Simple breakfast with great coffee, that can also be eaten downstairs in... More

First, it's very difficult to find the place. Not just for a tourist like me, but for an italian taxi driver with a gps. In that neighborhood at night there was no one at all. I'm glad I took a cab and didn't walk. The pillows aren't real pillows, they're a piece of foam covered with the sheet cover. The... More

Unfortunately we were very upset about this hostel. The bathrooms were very dirty, like hair on the toilet seat, no hygenic towels (even though there were electric towel dispenser, which didn't work), mouldy showers and dirt all over the floor. The rooms were simple but ok. The plain brekfast was ok as well. Wlan just on the coridors available. All... More

If I ever go back, I would definitely stay here again. The place is so quiet and clean. For the money, you cannot complain. The breakfast is great for continental. The facilities are good if you want to cook for yourself. Laundry is available for cheap. There are lockers for your valuables. They could use a few more outlets at... More

My sister and I stayed 4 nights here and it was great. I love Trastevere so the location was perfect and the service was wonderful. I would recommend this hostel to any woman looking to stay in a clean, friendly place while visiting Rome.

This hostel is excellent with such low prices. I stayed in a 9-bed room, but the room was separated in half so I in fact felt that I only had to share it with 3 other girls. The room itself was very spacious, and each person had her own locker with clothes hangers. Breakfast was good with bread, jam, butter,... More

I like to stay in quiet places and when looking for hostels, I usually avoid those in which a good party is guaranteed. I have had a hard time finding a place to stay in Rome, as most options within my allocated budget are youth hostels and are located near Termini, an area I'm not particularly fond of. As I... More

A simple, beautiful and quiet place, very conveniently located. The women in charge were extremely helpful and accommodating, even after I made a mistake with my booked dates. The projects that they are working on are worth learning about!

Great location in Trastavere, close to Saint Peters Basilica and the restaurants and night life of the area. Housed in a beautiful old convent, this is also a womens center which supports some very good causes. Would be nice if breakfast's were not served with disposable everything however. The flimsy nature of the plastic plates and cutlery makes you doubt... More

This hostel is very clean, staff friendly. Single beds in dorms with bedside table and big locker for each guest. Free internet on two computers. Free breakfast also. This hostel is in a great location, close to the Vatican. Fabulous restaurants a 5/10 minute walk away with plenty to choose from. Only two negatives from my stay, which were minor:... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
