Sister property to Hotel Santa Maria just around the corner. A very cute little place, charming rooms, comfy beds and great bathroom with a longed for bathtub! Breakfast is wonderful and you can also use the sister hotel for wine and afternoon snacks. Delightful and most helpful staff. Good free wifi. I didn't give it a 'five' rating simply because... We loved our vacation in Rome and really enjoyed staying at Residenza Santa Maria. The location is close enough to walk to many of Rome's great historical attractions but is also tucked away in beautiful Trastevere. Rooms were clean and the staff were very helpful and kind. We definitely recommend staying here.

The first thing to mention is that we were put in an apartment which wasn't actually in Trastevere, or seemilgyl part of Residenza Santa Maria (albeit it is owned by the same people). The apartment we were placed in is actually in a tenement block in the Jewish Quarter. We were initiall y rather confused, - mainly because we weren't... More

But I have to comment. From the moment you are welcomed on your first visit as if you were coming home by Giovanna until you are waved goodbye on your way to the airport you will feel warmly and professionally taken care of by a great team in a great little hotel. It is quietly tucked away but close to... More

Residenza Santa Maria is a charming place with 6 nice rooms in a perfect location in Trastevere. It's an "authentic neighborhood place" and is also staffed in the morning and the early evening (when you are likely to be in need of something). The staff is very warm and helpful. The rooms are simple and large enough, and the building... More

We had heard about the place by friends, and made an earliest possible reservation., very well confirmed. Location: "just around the corner" from Piazza Santa Maria, in the hearth of Trastevere. Though, by entering into this central area side-street in Trastevere and the taxi stopped nearby we asked the driver "are you sure this location is the place", - the... More

A wonderful place - I stay here at least once a year when I visit from Australia. It does not matter who is on the front desk as the kind and caring service is always the same. The rooms are clean and some are quite big The location makes it so easy to walk to anywhere (if you like walking)... More

Great location: Rome's soul - Trastevere: narrow streets, residential houses, patios, flowers, all sorts of cafe and restaurants - perfect for romantic vacation; 10 to 15 minutes walk time to main places of interest, less than 30 minutes walk time from Vatican museums. Best breakfast ever: the choice is not very wide comparing to high class hotel, but here everyone... More

Great location. If you are interested in staying in Trastevere, and are looking for the perfect location hotel, this is it. You are a hundred steps or so from Santa Maria Di Trastevere Piazza, which is nice. The rooms are ok, nothing special. The bed was old feeling, and not that comfortable. The big puzzle was the wifi in the... More

The hotel is located in a great area of Rome, quite untouched by the hordes of tourists found in other areas. The area has a great buzz and some great restaurants and bakeries. Breakfast was good and staff very friendly. Would definitely return and recommend.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
