Located just outside Rome this is a great place for a family. The management is flexible and a trifle eccentric. The owner is liable to thrust his latest book into your hands. Service and cleanliness are variable. Price is affordable and children can play in the garden more

We had a fabulous holiday in Rome, saw many wonderful sights like the Vatican and Trevi Fountain. We loved staying at villa Silj it was prefect for what we wanted. We used the swimming pool everyday and got speaking to people who were staying in the other cottages. Ajith was very helpful and we enjoyed two delicious meal cooked by... more

We were looking for a place to stay while visiting Rome with our children ages 7 - 13 and found Villa Silj twawling the internet, I found the property to be just as I expected from their website. We wanted a quiet place with a pool that was close to the center of the city. Although the pool is not... more

This place is not what it appears from the pictures. It's a run down facility that's far from Rome. It was a major disappointment when we got there and got progressively worse. Potable water? Not available. Clean pool? Not while we were there. Be sure to see how reliable the other reviews are by checking the reviewer's histories. more

What can i say. Following a trawl of the internet i stumbled upon Villa Silj. My fiance and i had decided to get married in Rome and wanted a large place to stay for all our close family. We arranged a visit via the hotels owner, Bernard Anson (e-mail). He was very quick to reply to our emails and agreed... more

Our two families (11 people, 7 teenagers) spent a marvelous week at the Villa Silj in July. It was a calm and relaxing oasis to come home to at the end of a hot day sightseeing in Rome. The pool was a blessing. We stayed in the two cottages and they were very clean, comfortable and spacious. They were rustic... more

We had a fabulous holiday at the villa with attentive staff and gracious host. It is ideal for the city but has the bonus of providing relaxing and beautiful surroundings after a long day sightseeing. We would urge others not to be put off by previous reviews. more

Having found tripadvisor only after I had booked this villa, I must confess, I was really concerned as some of the reviews are truly awful. I had booked for myself and 8 friends to spend a long weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday. I have to say that when we arrived we were all impressed. The owner and the staff... more

We stayed in the West Wing of Vila Silj and were made very welcome by the owners and their staff. The weather was cold & rainy but the welcome could not have been warmer. The rooms are beautiful and any request was met immediately. It is a step back in time, spacious & peaceful, a lovely place to which to... more

Villa Silj and the surrounding gardens were lovely in themselves, with a feeling that you were stepping back in time and soaking in the atmosphere. Location perfect - just down the road a tube into Rome in 20 mins. But the greatest delight are the stories to be told by the owner and staff, and the pointers in their guides... more
