Hotel Marsala is literally a few steps away from the Terravision bus stop that goes to both Fiumicino and Ciampino airports. It is ideal if you are arriving very late at night, or departing on a very early flight. It has 24hrs reception. Whilst the area is not the best (I would avoid it if you are a girl on... More

We booked into this hotel for four nights as it was conveniently located near the Termini Station, handy for our planned trips out of Rome. We arrived at 11 am and were told that check in couldn't happen until 1 and that was fair enough. Luigi, the receptionist, kindly allowed us to put our bags into the room before it... More

I stayed in the hotel for a couple of days - I was a bit terrified beforehand when reading all the comments here. However I don't agree with most of them. Our room was clean (as clean as hotel rooms usually are...) We had our own shower, but no private toilet. Shared bathrooms were pretty clean, and there were no... More

Reading the reviews I'd like to make some points. This is obviously not that luxury hotel. It's a simple one. In some cases you share the bathrooms like I did (the crew keeps them clean but some guests are messy) but it has got a good bed and is really a good price. I like the location the most because... We booked there sort of short-notice after our flight was cancelled and, honestly, I was not asking for anything spectacular, but what we got was waaaaay worse than anything I'd expect. Ended up paying nearly double to have (like many people here) a room with private bathroom. Needless to say it was a waste of money: the shower was ether... More

This is a 2 star hotel. It is old and slightly decrepit. But the beds are comfortable. Some of the showers are excellent. There is a great reading light by the bed and the overhead light is bright - a pleasant change from many dimly lit rooms. Street noise was nowhere near as bad as i expected. The room doors... More

My SO and me stayed here for a short vacation. Since the hotel is very close to the Termini train station it was a good choice for a short sightseeing tour. On the - side the area was noisy, on the + side the breakfast was excellent.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
