We stayed at Cernaia Suites for three nights and highly recommend it. The location is convenient and the building secure. We felt safe walking in the vicinity at night. The five rooms are located on the second floor, and you ascend by elevator. The reception area and rooms are very clean and attractively decorated. The photos on their website accurately... More

We spent 5 nights at Cernaia Place at the end of September. This B&B is a great place. Very quiet, including windows that shielded us from the busy traffic on the street below. Our room was charming, very clean, probably recently painted. Our host, Renato, was very helpful in giving us pointers about Rome and its treasures. The breakfast, served... More

This B & B is excellent value for Rome. We stayed in the Cernaia suite for 3 nights in September this year. It is a walkable distance from Termini, just 500 mtrs. The Via Cernaia location isn't squeaky clean but appears safe & is typical of this area, i.e. lots of character. You'll encounter shops, bars, rubbish bins etc as... More

This place is fantastic! The rooms are clean breakfast is great Wi-Fi is excellent, air conditioning fantastic! Renato is an excellent host and helped us plan each day as we asked. He gave us recommendations for food restaurants, tours, and Roma pass. This B&B is only one block from the open air market, and the best gelato in Rome is... More

This hotel is a gem! It's located close to the train station and a short walk to major monuments. Renato provides an excellent map from the station to the hotel (its a short walk, 7 minutes or so). Renato was even waiting for us outside when we first arrived! Renato was so helpful in making recommendations about where to eat,... More

We stayed at Cernaia for four nights in June and enjoyed it overall. We were most impressed with the cleanliness. Our room (the blue room) was spotless and was cleaned by Giselle everyday. We travelled for a month and stayed at lots of different Bed and Breakfasts and Cernaia had the best air conditioning and wifi by far. Rome is... More

I have the impression that judgment is made by comparing this structure to Rome in high season so paying the price for the high season with another structure in a sea area where for the same period is low season and at the same price is a beautiful structure. Obviously the reverse case whether now in August that it is... More

I notice the last review called this a hotel, it is a bed and breakfast. I booked this well in advance via Expedia, Renato emailed me to confirm details and explained the checking in process. OK this is a small B&B in a central location, it looks like an older private residence turned into 5 bedrooms, you enter via two... More

I have to start out by saying I booked this hotel because of the reviews on here - mainly the ones that mentioned how Renato met them on the street to check them in. So needless to say, it was exceptionally disappointing when not only was no one on the street when we arrived...no one was at the B&B at... More

My mom and I started at Cernaia for a week and could not have been happier. The owner, Renato, was so nice, accommodating, and helpful. Just as other reviewers reported, he was waiting outside the building to meet us when we arrived from the airport and provided us with information about the city. We received our own sets of keys... We stayed here for 3 days and we were very very pleased. They bring a continental breakfast to your room every day, and the rooms are clean and feel fresh. But the best part is the owner. Renato spend nearly an hour with us helping us plan our trips each day, recommending some great places and telling us to stay... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
