I have been to Papavero in the beggining of March of 2015. I 've choosen the cheapest room which actually was "you get what you pay for"! Actually it turned out that it was not a hotel in the classical sense. The reception was in a different place some 30 meters from the gate of the building that the apartments... More

Alitalia decided on a 24-hr strike the evening prior to our departure, that meant scrambling to find a night at a decent hotel near Termini. After reading the hotel's mixed reviews we decided on a booking. We were not disappointed. The morning of check-in the staff gave us a warm welcome (unusual for Italy) and pointed out the facilities of... More

Seen mixed reviews but our experience has been very positive. After 10 hours travelling arrived at night at termini One very tired hungry and therefore grumpy husband in tow. Following directions from TripAdvisor colleagues found reception via a slight detour having taken left instead of right. Greeted by smartly dressed young man complete with dicky bow- not that common in... More

Unfortunately we would never stay at this hotel again! This was our last stop for our month long honeymoon and because of the duration of our trip our budget for hotels wasn't huge. In saying this, we stayed all over Europe for the same price of this hotel and got FAR better!! The rooms are very old, outdated and they... More

As another review mentionned, it is "somewhere to sleep". Location is good, you can easily walk to Rome famous places. Tube is near as well. Prices were quite fair. On the other hand, accomodation was minimalist : a bed, a table and a bathroom. We did not have a soap or shower gel refill, and the area was quite noisy.... More

The hotel is located a 15 minute walk from the train station in a decent neighborhood complete with lower cost restaurants and cafes. The room (for 3) was very small but clean. This hotel is fine for those who want a clean, safe place to sleep at a very reasonable cost. The reception desk people were very friendly and there... More

My partner and I stayed at this hotel from the 4th to the 7th of April. Location Excellent. We have stayed in this area before and enjoyed that all major attractions are within walking distance and is close to the Termini. The best gelato shop in Rome is at the top of the road, no exaggeration it's called gelataria la... More

There is nothing really bad with the hotel or its rooms. Everything was clean and for the cheap price id say you get what you pay for. It worked for us for the night. we got in at midnight, slept, got up at 8 and headed to the airport. the toilet needs a while to re-charge the water so if you... More

Spent my last two nights in Rome at this " Hotel". For two people with two single beds for two nights it cost around 60 euro, so the price was right! The shower head didn't stay up, so you had to manually use the wand style but water was hot. Bathroom was clean. For the $ it's OK. Bring ear... More

My brother and I stayed here for four nights while in Rome. The room was clean and comfortable. The maids came in each day and made up the room. We had queen size bed and a twin size bed plus a tv. The private bath was a good size and clean. The reason I did not give five stars is... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
