This hotel was one of the highlights of my stay in Rome. From being greeted by knowledgeable and hospitable staff to the fresh bread and croissant breakfast included, the stay was exquisite. They also have a deal with a delicious and reasonably priced restaurant right around the corner (10% off). The hotel itself is very close to a subway station... More

We were happy with the hotel considering the price. Breakfast was provided every morning in a basket on our door meaning no restricting eating times, however it was the same every day and a variation would have been nice. The room was cleaned to a high standard daily but was in need of decoration and the shower door did not... More

The worst customer service, and a disappointing end to a wonderful holiday in Italy. My entire experience of dealing with Domus livia was a shambles from start to finish, completely lacking in professionalism. I would not recommend this hotel. My brother booked a triple room in Domus Livia on booking.com for the two of us. He booked a triple to... More

I don't often post reviews unless the experience is really good or really bad. Domus Livia is really good! Probably the CLEANEST hotel we've stayed in throughout the US or Europe. Here's what else floated my boat: friendly English speaking staff, 1/2 block to bus stop, quiet rooms with soundproofed glass windows, free breakfast of coffee, tea, juice bread/croissants and... We did a lot of research before deciding on Domus Livia, and where not disappointed! Fairly central, reasonable price, clean and tidy, new sheets every day, very helpful front desk (they would happily print tickets that we bought online) and breakfast and coffee in the room every day. If you do not need a large buffet breakfast, Domus Livia is... More

Our room was warm and cozy. The place was clean and the staff were so friendly. Location is Via Nationale which is a very safe street even late at night. In front of Domus Livia is the bus stop with bus 40 and 64 which goes to Coliseum, Vatican City, Campo dei fiori, Piazza Navona and Piazza Venezia amongst other... More

Stayed here in September 2014 with our nine month old baby girl. staff was very friendly and helpful. Clean comfortable quiet and central. The front desk is part time (usually manned 8am to 8pm) so I would understand some frustration from other reviewers but if you let them know the will accommodate. Great value, I would recommend.

When Staff was present--Check-In, Room Cleaning, & Breakfast very nice. Beds awful--board like, useless. If you have ANY health issues, bad back, or need hot water for your face & eyes, bring it with you. No hot water for three days. Zero! Made me cry. No one available for help via Desk or by phone either. Phone never worked in... More

Our family of 4 was having a short stay in Rome and we needed a hotel that would be close to bus and metro transportation AND be safe for us and our children. Upon reaching the property, we were warmly greeted by Signora Marissa, who immediately pulled out a map and highlighted transportation spots and sightseeing must sees. She explained... More

The service was very good, the room we had (a change because the one we were to have had a broken air-conditioner) was just fine and the service in the room was excellent. Clean and well maintained. Beds comfortable, tub-shower so if that is an issue beware, and the breakfast (included) was continental and taken in the room and beverages... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
