Hidden and secure room is basic but as its only needed for sleeping and having a shower it served its purpose you couldn't stay this cheaply in any other major cities. Downside for us was there was no kettle too make a tea of coffee in the morning. Oh and towels not changed for 3 days when we left them... More

Booked this place via booking.com as was cheapest and most central we could afford. Quite small, rooms are basis but serve a purpose. It is very small with little amenities. Our room (3) had a very annoying banging noise constantly from what sounded like a defective air conditioning units perhaps. Overall just average.

We booked this guest house for a 3 night stay in rome, italy and have to say that we were not disappointed, the guest house was small with only about 4 or 5 rooms, it was very clean and tidy and located a short walk from the attractions, the rooms were cleaned daily and you could come and go as... Close to Coliseum and Manzoni station (two stops from Termini) but that's the only pro. The bed was OK, bathroom was very small. They will change your towels but for a fee. They charge for tax and breakfast, and the breakfast consists of pastries, orange juice, cereal, tea & coffee.

We stayed at the San Juoan Guest house for 3 nights in July. We were pleasantly surprised with how modern the suites were; also very clean and spacious. Nestor and Stephanie were helpful with any questions or requests we had. The location was great because it was walking distance to the Colosseum and Arcibasilica di San Giovanni in Laterano. We... The hotel is very close to manzoni metro station, bus and tram station. The neighborhood is very quiet with a supermarket very close. You can walk to Colosseum area...just 10 min and this is great for nights. I stayed in room 1 for 3 days, i went to Firenze and then come back for another 3 days and stayed in... More

Stayed here for 3 nights during a heat wave in July. The bed was hard and slopped to the middle. Fine for one person I'm sure but not for two. The a/c would make weird loud noises at night (you'll wake up). The TV is rubbish. Most channels don't work. Almost impossible to find an English Channel for news (Greece... More

We stayed here for 7 nights and on arrival we couldn't get in through the gate, we rang the buzzer a number of times with no answer. When we finally got inside and approached a man in a little office, he didn't greet us in a friendly way at all. He gave us a map of the city and showed... More

San Jouan is in a great place, out of the hussle and bussle in a little courtyard, yet the furthest things are less than an hours walk away. The rooms are quite small but that's not really an issue as you'll spend most time sightseeing, and there is a lovely little patio area with tables and chairs out the front.... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
