We picked the hotel from Trip Advisor reviews and booked for a four night stay. From the first contact at reception, we knew we were in excellent hands. Doreen, a consummate professional and the receptionist on duty, made us very welcome, answered every query and volunteered volumes of local knowledge. Maria, under training, was equally charming and demonstrated an excellent... More

Very, very friendly staff, and a small but functional hotel (nothing fancy), centrally located. Breakfast in the morning was generous and had something for everyone (and then some), and we really appreciated the free contents of the mini-bar - we went through many bottles of water. It's also right next to the Baths of Diocletian, the biggest Bath complex ever,... More

We chose this hotel for two reasons , firstly its central location and secondly the reviews describing the hospitality .On both counts our five night stay provided welcome positive evidence.Location was 5 minutes form the railway station and within walking distance of the colloseum ,Pantheon , Spanish steps and all other tourist locations bar the Vatican. We had no problems with... Nice clean room we stayed here for 3 days. Very friendly nice people. Good food and drinks. Close to train station and Coliseum. You can actually get around anywhere in Rome from here if you would like to.

The hotel is in the walking distance to the train station. It is good for transfer. However, we wish we stayed in downtown Rome where the actions were. The room was small and no bathtub. The staff were friendly especially the breakfast staff. We enjoyed free beverage they provided everyday. Thanks.

we had two one night stops in rome this trip, and stayed in two different hotels of this more or less moderate price range category. this one was the better of the two. an easy five minute walk from the main Termini station (you can actually see the street where the hotel is located as you exit the station), the... We selected the Hotel Diocleziano following positive reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. The hotel is ideally located - walking distance to a number of tourist spots and only five minutes from Termini station. We stayed in room 404, clean and comfortable with an enclosed shower, this is a really good value for money hotel. All the... More

This was a very basic hotel that should be considered a motel. We spent 2 nights here but really should not have. The best thing about this place is its proximity to the train station Roma Termini which is a 5 minute walk away. The bed was uncomfortable as the room was small. I recommend a stay here only if... Hotel is right across Roma Termini. The rooms are comfortable and the staff is very friendly. You can take trenitalia from Roma Termini for intra city travel to Florence, Naples etc or Metro to travel to Vatican City, Colosseum and other archeological sites etc... strong recommendation for do it yourself :)

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
