This hostel (Ostia Lido, about 30 mins train ride from Rome) is in a lovely old building, big rooms , high ceilings, some nice artwork too. I was in a 6-bed all-women's dorm from which you could see the sea. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was mostly pre-packaged stuff though there was also some fresh fruit -... More

Cheap hostel with sea view, friendly staff, very poor breakfast. Us to be a school, rooms are very big, with loads of beds ;-) Location is good, close to the beach and the town center. Little bit smudgy, badroom and shower also very basic. If you don't care for luxury, this place is OK. Very conversational.

I was in Rome for the canonization of Pope John Paul II with a group of 25 young ladies aged 19 and up. At first, I had to pick this hostel since it was the only one available, though we tried booking way ahead. However, I did not regret this choice at all: apart from being far from the center... We stayed here for 5 days in a double room on the second floor with a great sea view. The building started off as a sanatorium for sick poor children from Rome, so has the feeling of a huge institution with long corridors and wards. The Germans occupied it during the war. But now it has been warmed up with... More

To reiterate another reviewer, this is Lido Ostia, not Rome. Easy to access 30 minutes from Rome via train from Porta San Paulo. This is a separate line connected to the Trenitalia station through the Piramide Metro station, and bus stop. Trains on this line only travel to/from Lido Ostia and are a cultural experience. Follow the signs to Porta... More

It's just a hostel. It's not anywhere near anything you'd want to see. As a family of four, we had to book a whole room if we wanted our privacy and that meant that the price (120 euros plus 12 euros city tax, which I don't really believe. In Rome proper we paid 2 euros a night and nothing for... More

If you want to stay in Rome then book a hotel in Rome. But don’t complain about travelling from Ostia to Rome. It is a Hostel not a Hotel but having said that it is one of the best hostels I’ve ever staid in, yes you do have to take your sheets to reception on the last day but the... More

I dont like writing bad reviews for places, but I cant help but do so for Litus. There was nothing positive about my stay in this hostel. While I was prepared to do a bit of traveling to get into the city of Rome, it took us on average about 1 hour and 20 mins to get into and out... More
