What a hostel!! My friend and I had originally booked a 4 person room and during our trip decided to change it to a single room. Turns out we never cancelled our original reservation and were going to have to pay extra. The person at the check in counter - Kiwi (and his manager) - was amazing to us and... More

Whenever I arrive in a new city I'm always somewhat disoriented. This always subsided after I was around the city and get a feel for it. At the yellow I never had this feeling. The reception is probably the most informative yet fun way to quickly orient yourself with a city. They explain everything from transportation types to day trips.... More

To be honest I feel like this hostel could of been fun however we had a terrible experience. We stayed during the peak of summer when Rome was having 38 degrees celsius days and the air conditioner in the hostel stopped working on our level. The hostel did give us 20% off and free breakfast, however it wasn't worth it.... More

Not so far, not so close from the train station. Great rooms with a lot of space, clean sheets and good beds and bathrooms. Very clean and staff really nice, great for young people. It also has a bar with the best parmesan fries :) Good price-quality relation

One of my favourite party spots in Europe! Location VERY Convenient just a few blocks away from Roma Termini. It is also a good starting point for tours. About a 20 Minute walk from the Colosseum and it is close to restaurants. Food The food available is of great quality aligning more towards an American / International Menu. A good... More

So after reading the reviews and hostel information and checking out the pics in Hostelworld I was excited about booking a dorm room here. That is until I read further and discovered that because I was over 40 I would have to book a private room. So for a 3 night stay it was going to cost me over $400AU.... More

I was recommended the yellow by a friend who said he had the best time there so I was extremely disappointed with my stay. Most of the staff were very nice with some exceptions. Go on Kevin's bike your. It is awesome. The bar and food are cheap and good enough. We got stuck with the most awful roommates on... More

The Yellow was my first Hostel experience, it wasn't far between the main train/bus station and the local metro stop. A very welcoming reception and shown to my room, helped calm my nerves. The mixed dorm room I shared was with some of the workers and met some awesome people in that room, in the evening I spent most nights... More

A great party hostel and place to meet new people, but the facilities are quite average. It's also a bit expensive (the price for the different rooms increase as they fill up!), but if you're looking for a party it's definitely the place to be. They enforce a "no food or alcohol" policy at the dorms, so the ground floor... More

I think The Yellow is a good hostel overall but it has pros and cons. First, I found it quite hard to meet new people since it lacks a decent common room. Sure there is the bar but I didn't feel like paying every time I would get down there. Apart from that, the cleaniness of the place is average... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
