Common hostel with the regular things you need but don't expect more than that. Comfy beds, bad wi-fi; spacious shared rooms, small bathrooms; Nice loung area but the kitchen just got few plates and cutlery and no stoves (this detail was emphasised by the guys in the reception to keep it clear); is near to the station but not close... Fantastic, had a great time. Stayed here for two nights over the past weekend. The room was clean, along with the communal bathroom. The bar was GREAT!!!! As a solo traveler, I like to make international friends and the bar was the best place to make them in Rome. My only one problem was the advice given by the reception... More

I stayed in the yellow hostel after reccomendations from travelers that i have met and was not dissapointed. it is a big hostel, but there is a lovely lounge area where no alcohol is allowed if you want an easy night, and there is of course the bar downstairs which is always buzzing! good for a solo traveler. there is... I stayed here for 3 nights in May 2014 as a solo traveller. Good Points: Lively bar at night Central location (walking distance to the colosseum) Friendly check in staff Clean rooms and bathrooms Bad Points: VERY rude bouncer. Basically, at night, the hostel locks the main door, so you have to ask the bouncer of the bar (which is... More

I stayed here for a week in January 2015. The hostel is very large, but the rooms are nice. Unfortunately, there's a lot of noise that can come into the hostel from the street - particularly if the room faces the street. The room I stayed in had a ensuite bathroom and shower, which were cleaned daily. The room was... More

It's the best place ever! Starting with an awesome reception full of boards on the wall explaining everthing you need to know and finishing with amazing staff from all over the globe, all speaking amazing english. After that, someone will take you personnally to your room and explain you everything you need to know. 24 hour reception is a plus.... More

This is a good hostel, its near of Termini (main instation in Rome) and near some atractions. its a clean place, the bar is amazing the beer is cheap and you have party every night. the worst part is that you dont have your on power outlet in side of your bed. the good part is that you have lockers... I don't understand why this place has so many good reviews. This place is just average, not even. It's a massive, dirty, bland looking party hostel full of crazy people. Sometimes crazy people are great- I'm one of them most of the time. But when you're thrown into hundreds of them all in party mode- it just gets messy; and... More

I had heard from a lot of people that The Yellow is an amazing hostel and after spending 5 nights there I’d tend to agree that it’s pretty good. The hostel itself is very clean with every amenity you’d want from a hostel - the beds and pillows are comfortable, rooms have locking safes, under bed storage bins and lamps... More

SO... where do I begin... Let's just start with the fact that THEY UPGRADED US TO A PRIVATE ROOM (whut whuuuuut) FOR NO EXTRA CHARGE!!!! In that moment I knew I had landed in the perfect place. The room was clean, beautiful, comfortable... but that's not why you go to the Yellow, you go to the yellow... FOR THE BAR... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
