This is probably the biggest hostel I have visited. It is spread across many buildings and you need a guide just to find your room. My friend and I stayed in different rooms and there was a vast quality difference between them. There are definitely some newer rooms. The reception seemed incredibly disorganised with people who had bookings with no... More

Was recommended this hostel by a friend who had stayed there before and enjoyed it. It's located about a 7min walk from the Termini train station which was very convenient for transportation from the airport and for me taking the train to Florence. It's about a 30min walk to the Colosseum area which I did one day since the public... More

I've found very quickly this beautiful hostel located in a very strategic position, near the Roma Termini train station and near to the city centre. I've booked with my friend 2 beds in a dorms of 10 beds but the receptionist let us sleep in a double room, at the same price (very cheap). The room, even though was a... More

The hostel has a great structure and they walk you to your room. Showers were super clean. Cleaner than most hostels anyway. Beds were super comfortable. The location is also very good, lots of shops, restaurants and the metro right there. The only problem I had was that they showered to the wrong room. Arrived late at night and they... More

Let's make that 101, as we apologise for the mix up. And thank you so much for understanding and the patience you have shown while we were fixing it. We hope you come back to Rome and the Yellow! More

The rooms, food, and staff are great. Everything is want you would want while staying in a hostel. Like people have said, you will never want to leave. Perfect location. The train station and metro is within walking distance, and then from there you can get anywhere around the city.

Top shagger pulls out another blinder going 2 in 3 nights. Rolling bus tour ran by Stan was great fun. Great social life, bar always full and something to do/plenty of people to meet. Showers could be better, but this is a minor problem In terms of party hostel this is up there with milhouse in argentina. Would shag here... More

Very good meals at the hostel bar especially pancakes. The room was good and clean. The staff is very helpfull and nice. Try the gelatteria next to the hostel. The wifi was the best wifi ever. It works even in the strret in front of hostel. The location is bit far from the touristic stuff but is very close to... More

The Yellow is the best hostel I have stayed in. It is in a great location, 5 mins walk from Roma Termini train station and easy to get on to the metro to see the sights. The staff were friendly and welcoming, offering travel tips and good conversation. The rooms were clean and well equipped including a safe and a... More

I spent three weeks in Italy, and it was wonderful! The only downer was staying at this hostel. The atmosphere here is basically "get drunk and get laid"- Why even go to Rome if that's all you're there for?! Yet that seems to be the essential philosophy of this seedy spot. It's evident in the way it's advertised, in the... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
