Although, at first glance, we thought 'we'd been dropped off in the wrong place', once we found our accommodation on the top floor of this building we were pleasantly surprised! Spacious and comfortable bed and, although decor was old-fashioned and not 'our cup of tea', everywhere was clean. The receptionist was very polite and helpful which made up for the... More

I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotel ranging from all possible levels. I fell in love with the hotel at first sight. For the value, I do not think how one can get better than this. I have searched many hotels and Astoria was great for my expectations. Old fashioned elevator takes you to the 4th floor,... More

This is not a hotel....it is not even really a B&B. It is located in a commercial area of Rome with no restaurants in the area....no sites to visit. We walked for about an hour on dark and basically deserted streets before we found somewhere to eat and it was at best bad. Management barely speaks English. The phone in... More

We left the booking of our accommodation very late (until the last day before our trip!) to Rome. Couldn't really find a 'nice' place that was clean, central and reasonably priced. Then we found this place - absolute bargain!!! It's clean, central to the train line (literally 1 min walk) and really well priced. The place is on the 4th... More

We loved Rome and thought that the Astoria Palace was cute and quaint. It's in what we considered a great location; about 500 feet from the metro and only four stops (about a 15 min ride) to the Colosseum. Because it's out of the city center, it was relatively quiet, save for sirens, and nearly deserted outside at night, with... More

Upon entering the building, I prayed, please be clean, please have an A/C, please have an ELEVATOR. But what I didn't pray for was for it to have a 1st floor lobby - this place didn't. So, we're dumbfounded.....what???? I looked at the sign outside again, and it said something like 4 Piano. Hmmm....4th floor? Interesting? Penthouse maybe, I thought.... More

After searching high and low for a reasonable hotel near the city center, we came across the All Comfort Astoria Palace. What a great find! The hotel was beautiful and our room was ready for us much earlier than their check-in time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is also very conveniently located - less than 2 minutes... Based on the negatives of the other two reviews I see I can only assume there is new management in place because this was a wonderful experience. The "all-girl" crew was friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make myself and daughters feel welcome. Rooms are VERY clean. AC is VERY cold. The neighborhood is relatively quiet (can't...
