Top location, near Collosseum, metro station. Adorable quiet rooms with airco. Very kind and helpfull hosts. Only minus (but not for us): Since there are a lot of stairs and no elevator, this B & B is less suitable for people in a wheelchair or elderly people..

Rome can be overwhelming at first. My companion had never been before, and the crush on the Via Corso and at the Trevi Fountain was just too much for her. Fortunately, we were staying at Antica Locanda, in the Monti district near the Coliseum, on a narrow street. We were able to retreat (up several flights of steep stairs) to... More

A friend and I stayed here in September of this year. Considering the budget price in central Rome, we weren't expecting too much. Even with low expectations, this place is horrible!! Our room smelled horribly, and the air conditioning was broken. We had to repeatedly complain, and it was fixed in time for our departure, and they didn't discount our... More

We didn't stay here but happened by it for lunch and we had a very good pizza and good lasagna. It was a cute little setting for a lunch. Can't say anything about the hotel though...

Small hotel, cozy and very welcoming. No elevator, and no phones in the rooms. Each room designed differently, they have Wi-Fi at the entrance floor. The breakfast is very nice. We loved the fact that it doesn't feel like hotel. We will use this hotel on our next visits in Rome.

Stayed in July at Antica Locanda with a family of 9. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious for European standards. Carmen, at the desk, was welcoming and helpful-went out of her way to make our stay a pleasant one. Khalid was also helpful, in the evening. We stayed on the lower floors and could hear all the street traffic... More

While the location was very convenient to the Colosseum, Forum, subway and trains, the beds were rock hard (ours) or very lumpy (our friends'), the street noise was the worst we've ever heard (windows did not close completely) and the rooms were boarding-house seedy (dirty bedspreads, stained sofa, etc). When we checked in, we were told that we could get... More

Stayed in a couple of hotels during this summer trip with friends. This was by far the best value for money. The room rates were very economical, whilst the rooms were large, clean and air-conditioned. This came as welcome relief as other hotels in the same / slightly higher priced range were charging extra for A/C usage. The room was... More

We stayed in this hotel for four nights at the end of a 20-day Italy vacation. While it took a little work to find it (American drivers in rental cars), the location could not have been better. We were no more than 5 minutes from a Metro stop, and less than a 15 minute walk from the Colosseum, the Forum,... More

I stayed here for 5 nights in mid-August and enjoyed the experience very much. The style of the rooms was impressive and we thought the value for money was outstanding. Small and csoy hotel that offered everything we needed. Excellent location too - only 2 minutes walk from the coloseum and within walking distance of the majority of Rome's sites.... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
