It's very easy to get to from the train station and the staff was friendly. The rooms were kind of small but that is to be expected in a city. There were lots of restaurants on the block and the main tourist sights are all within walking distance if you are in good shape. We usually left for the day... More

the family who run the Maryelen are helpful, warm and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the on suites very good loads of hot water. The hotel is in a very good position to get everywhere in Rome and there are very many restaurants in the vicinity, when we are next in Rome... More

I like the personal service at Hotel Maryelen. The staff were all friendly and helpful. You can ask them for travel tips and reasonable requests. They try their best to help you. Their care and personal attention are well-noted in my stay with them. I highly recommend this place.

The Hotel is near the Termini Station. If you are a backpacker, remember that in that place you could find metro (both lines), trams and buses for every direction of the city. Around the area and near the hotel there are plenty of cheap but above average restaurants, fast foods and trattorias. The rooms are clean and old-fashioned but the... More

Me and my husband stayed in this family run hotel in April 2013. We were given a very warm welcome by the whole family, and our stay was very pleasant. The room was quite spacious and very clean . It's close proximity to the Termini was a bonus and there were a lot of restaurants in the vicinity to choose... More

Wonderful hotel, small and friendly. Location perfect. Clean and warm as it is winter. Good breakfast.. Arrived quite late but was greeted by warm friendly owner. Room cleaned every day and coffee and sugar provided. Very secure and felt very private.

We were here for 5 nights. It's close proximity to the Termini train station made it convenient to get there and to be able to travel around Italy. Check in was a breeze and there is a very nice lobby area. We felt the price was good. We were very happy with the room, it was large enough, nice private... More

I have just stayed 3 nights at the above Hotel which is run by a familey. The room was cleaned every day and clean towels provided. The continental breakfast always provided fresh crossants and doughnuts so although the rest of the breakfast was not to my taste there was enough to give you a good start to the day with... More

Great budget hotel. Very easy to get around as close to Termini station. Easy walking distance with suitcases etc. Nice friendly staff. Great breakfast with lots of choice. The hotel was budget but it was clean and adequate. Wifi was excellent. Only negative was you had to pay by cash only.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
