Dear Madam, thank you for your comment. Unfortunately we had a bad experience with you, due to the fact that the guests who were next to your room told us that during the night you knocked very rudely on their doors screaming some words they couldn't repeat. This matter for us is very serious and unforgivable, because it is a... More

Wonderfully comfortable hotel in a perfect location. Located in Trestevere which is easy walking distance to many of the great attractions it is just enough off the main tourist area to be quiet and relaxing. Slightly inconvenient not to have wardrobes (hanging rail only) it is not a problem, unless you intend to stay for weeks. Some might not be... More

Dear Terry, thank you so much for your comment. We are happy you captured the peculiarity of our breakfast service. The main purpose we wanted to reach by giving to our customer breakfast at trastevere cafès is to offer an immersion in the local atmosphere. About wardrobe, it was chosen according to the modern style of the rooms, and due... More

We stayed in the new wing of the hotel which was very nice. It was quiet and the room was very spacious with an excellent large comfortable bed. It was nicely decorated but my one complaint is that there wasn't any storage to speak of. It drives me mad when I have to put my things on the floor in... More

The Hotel Domus Tiberina was recommended to me by a friend in Cape Town who calls it a home away from home, and I am highly impressed with it in every way. It is in historic Travestere, known as the Left Bank of Rome, close to the Tiber. The beautiful ivy-clad terra cotta building on a quiet cobble-stoned path is... More

My first time in Italy and I found a great little hotel in the best neighborhood ever. The room was spacious, had a little refrigerator and a big balcony. It was pleasant to step onto the balcony, overlook the piazza activities in the evening as well as in the morning. The English speaking staff was helpful with directions, recommendations for... We spent 5 days at the Hotel in July 2015 ,the heat in Rome was exceptionally hot so our air conditioned room was a haven of cool ! Our bedroom was in the house next door in a very recently refurbished room with an excellent bathroom with a powerful shower and plenty of hot water. The room overlooked the pretty... More

It was my daughter's first visit to Rome and Testevere was just what she was hoping for. Our room was in the older section and it was just fine, lovely old tiled floor and all. The staff was very helpful and engaging and gave us good tips for food and sites. We happened upon Lungo il Tevere, just across the... More

I experienced to types of room during my stay: in the refurbished building and the old one. The new room was very comfortable, although a bit noisier than the old one - which is not uncommon in Italy anyway. The new room was perfect for an extended stay. The old room, for my last night, was smaller, but very cosy... More

For a first visit to Rome, Trastevere was the perfect neghborhood, and this was such a great hotel! The woman who checked us in was so friendly (and very proficient in English) and familiar with the neighborhood. She directed us to da Enzo, right down the street, which turned out to be possibly our best meal in Italy. The hotel... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
