Just arrived back with lots of thoughts that should help. Position, its a long way from everything except the Via Veneto and Villa Borghese, unless you want to taxi. You can walk 10 minutes to a Metro but the Metro only goes in 2 directions!. Rooms, the standard double is very small, walk sideways along the bed and get stuck... more

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Golden for 2 nights in October after a med cruise. It was very centrally located, near the more expensive areas of Via Venetto and Borghese Gardens but was far less expensive. We actually were able to walk to the Spanish Steps and Trevi fountain, after being given a map from the owners/brothers Marco... more

The Golden is a classic European three-star hotel with a few wrinkles of its own. Like most such hotels, our room wasn't much larger than the double bed it contains, and there is no lobby to hang around while waiting for a room to become available. The Golden takes up one floor in a small apartment building with some offices;... more

The typical one-floor-is-a-hotel hotel of Rome, only that it is really very clean and friendly like described here many times. Got a 1-bed-room with window to a filthy, noisy patio - but closing the window made the noises disappear. But then the wall sent other noises: like running water the whole night. After a while I decided to open the... more

Super location close to the heart of Rome, within walking distance of all the main sites, this hotel was the ideal base for our brief stay. The hotel is small but clean and the family who run it could not have been more helpful. They made sure we knew the best ways to maximise our stay, recommending restaurants and travel... more

We stayed at Hotel Golden for four nights in April, arriving early on Easter morning. The family was welcoming and helpful, providing us a map and easy walking path down to the Vatican, across town. Each morning they greeted us and helped by answering questions about our day's itinerary, making helpful recommendations. Twp evenings they guided us to outstanding nearby... more

If you need a full service hotel with room service and a complete staff, this is not your place. It is a family run hotel that has the feel of an inn/B&B. From the first, there is no lobby on the first floor and have to take an old elevator to the 2nd (only holds one person and lugguage). You... more

Rome is an expensive city - more so when you are just a stone's throw from ritzy Via Veneto. I stayed at the Hotel Golden Rome for 2 nights during my recent trip to Rome in September 2009. The brothers manning the front desk, Giovanni and Marco, are friendly and offered useful information on how to get to major tourist... more

The Hotel Golden was a great, little hotel. We felt very welcome over our 3 day trip. We were able to check in when we arrived from the airport - around 11 AM - able to nap quickly and then begin our stay. Our room was very nice - quite large for European standards. The bathroom was large and we... more

Not sure why the reviews are so good. OK the hotel is nice and the staff/owners friendlu. But the rooms are basic and small and the breakfast buffet a disappointment. The location is OK but it is quite a walk to the metro/underground alhtough buses go from nearby and their is a supermarket nearby. more
