My wife and I visited Rome in January and because this was our 3rd time in the Eternal City, we wanted to stay outside the historical center and in the more charming neighborhood of Trastevere. We found the Arco dei Tolomei Guest House in several guide books and because the reviews were good, we decided to stay there, for 5... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at to Arco dei Tolomei on our return visit to Rome in SEP 2015. When visiting places we love as much as Rome after a few days we lapse into a fantasy of what it would be like to actually live there and Arco Dei Tolomei enables that illusion in the best possible way. Visiting... More

In one of the most beautiful districts of Rome , Trastevere, we found this absolutely delightful and peaceful guesthouse. Marco the host, makes you feel at home and provides you with the most remarkable tales about Rome and gives you perfect advice about where to go and whre to eat etc. Walking distance from the centre of Rome. Many good... More

We only had two full days in Roma and it was amazing how much we could see just walking in those two days. Mario has great suggestions in both restaurants and places to see other than "the ususal". I highly recommend this B&B. If we ever get back, we would definitely stay here again. Penny and Cliff Crutchfield, Tucson, AZ

This was a unique and very enjoyable stay for us. Residenza Arco dei Tolomei is essentially a B&B tucked away in a residential neighborhood with many sites, restaurants and the river all very nearby. We think a large benefit was the personal attention given by our Host Marco who was always available to guide us and pointed out places to... More

We had a lovely 3 nights here. The room was beautifully furnished with antiques, beds very comfortable and excellent air conditioning. The Ensuite bathroom was spotless. You really feel like you are somebody house guest and indeed you are! The owners were charming and staff very accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast is served in a gorgeous dining room... More

Warm friendly lodging in Trastevere. The proprietor, Marco was extremely helpful and accommodating. Fluent in our native English language. Great source of information both from a historical and tourist perspective. Provided excellent recommendations on restaurants, sights, travel plans. The residence is clean, nicely furnished and in a quiet section. Made our first stay in Rome a memorable experience.

Let me start by saying that I thoroughly loved my stay at Arco dei Tolomei. I have often visited Rome and this time I wanted to stay in Trastevere in a place that was authentically Roman within walking distance of the major sites where I would be comfortable staying on my own. Arco dei Tolomei was all that and more.... More

Greeted warmly by Jocelyn and delighted with Marco' advice about Rome and Italy and that his grandfather had the Irish James Joyce as a teacher. Great quite location near lively areas and within walking distance of major sites. The location is discreet, a little hidden even but good restaurants around the nearest corners. This residence has character and charm, and... More

Arco Dei Tolomei is located in the quite part of Trastevre. The main tourist area is on the other side, centered around Santa Maria dei Trastevre. It is about a 5-10 minute walk from Santa Maria; which is where we typically spend most of our time while staying in Rome. True to what other reviews has stated; it has a... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
