Spent a long weekend in Rome sightseeing with my son and brother. What a charming place to stay. The hosts are extremely helpful - nothing is too much trouble and they are a mine of information for local places to eat. Everything you would want to visit is within easy walking distance i.e. Vatican City, Forum, Spannish Steps, Pantheon, Trevi... More

A delightful, charming gem of a hotel just a few steps away from great food. Marco knows everything about the city, answers every question with enthusiasm and makes you feel right at home. Highly recommended.

Marco and Gianna were wonderful hosts, providing us with great recommendations for meals. The accommodations were nice and the breakfast was good. We would stay here again. The location is perfect, close to all the main sights.

We finished our "Taste of Europe" trip with 4 nights at this wonderful B and B! We did have a little hard time finding the exact location as our taxi driving just dropped us off in the Piazza. Would be best to download a Rome map guide on your iPhone ahead of time in case your taxi driver doesn't direct... More

We spent the last three nights of our 2-week trip around Italy here, and it proved to be an excellent choice. This was the only place of six where we felt like we had landed in a truly Italian neighborhood where you could get a real sense of what its like to live in the country. The guest house is... More

Stayed three nights here - since I've been to Rome twice before, it was good to experience an area that was new to me. Note there are plenty of steps, if that's an issue for you. The location was convenient for walking around - across the river and a short walk from the Roman Forum and the Victor Emmanuel II... More

Convenient and super comfortable, this B&B is tucked in a quiet location in Trastevere on a safe street close to the Tiber Island bridge. Marco and Gianna host the perfect stay for travellers to enjoy an authentic Roman living experience. They go out of their way to help guests with every detail from finding a restaurant to giving you inside... More

We enjoyed everything about our stay in Rome at Arco dei Tolomei. As others have commented the hosts are lovely, with unrivalled knowledge about, and enthusiasm for the city. The location is fantastic, handy for walking across the Tiber to the centre but with really interesting places to visit as well very nearby (the Tempieto, the janiculum, etc.) and the... More

We spent an autumn week at the Arco dei Tolomei, a smart, lovely Guest House in Trastevere, one of Rome's more beautiful neighborhoods. We were escaping the overwrought hassles of US Thanksgiving for the splendor of the eternal city. You could not find more intelligent, friendly hosts to help serve it up than Marco and Gianna, nor a more authentic... More

I had an excellent stay. A single traveler, my room was very large with a large en suite. The hotel is tidy, clean and tasteful, with wooden furniture, books, and a small, charismatic dog. Breakfasts were ample and the homemade cake excellent. I cannot complain about anything. The location is very good, as well, so that you can get away... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
