We stayed in this charming Guest House for 3 days with our 12 yr old son. Our room was spacious, well appointed and charming. The location is excellent for getting to most sites on foot. In addition, if you are a runner, being right next to the Tiber is a bonus. The proprietors are a wealth of information. They were... More

What a lovely quiet retreat away from the busyness of Rome! Trastevere is definitely the place to stay if you want to be out of the hustle and bustle but still walking distance to many attractions. Marco and Gianna welcome you into their home, and are only too happy to point out places of interest to visit, wonderful places to... More

This lovely guest house is in a perfect location to see the sites of Rome, a short walk over the river takes you to the historic centre. Located in a quiet part of Trastevere you are guaranteed a peaceful nights sleep. Marco is the perfect host, he offered us plenty of advice on how to spend our day, he also... More

Residenza Arco dei Tolomei is located in quiet Trastevere which is an easy walk to many of Rome's famous attractions. Marco is fantastic at helping you put together an itinerary for your day pointing out museums and churches etc, which are grouped together in whichever direction you decide to explore. He also helped us with reservations for excellent restaurants. The... More

We received a very warm welcome from ours hosts Marco & Gianna who made sure we had all the information we needed to make the most of our 3 day stay in Rome. Travestere is the historic part of the city, well located to reach all the main sites easily. Marco has a wealth of knowledge and can give help... More

As I write this, the guests in the nearby breakfast room are commenting: "You'd never guess that you're in the middle of Rome, its so quiet!" Also: "Its so peaceful and quiet!" Plus,"When my husband and I arrived last night (in the nearby pza Piscinula), I nearly cried with happiness coz I knew that we were due to have a... More

We so enjoyed staying in this charming guest house in Trastevere. Marco was a great help and recommended places to visit and eat. It is elegantly furnished and the large dining room table makes it easy to chat to other guests over breakfast. Our room was large and comfortable and had its own small balcony, which was lovely. It's also... More

Residenza Arco Dei Tolomei was everything we hoped it would be. Wonderful location in the historic Travestere district, delightful quiet room with balcony and above all the friendliness and guidance of our hosts Marco and Gianna made this a most memorable stay in Rome. Arco Dei Tolomei is an absolute gem. Very highly recommended.

We loved the position of the guesthouse - peaceful and characterful yet near the bustle of Trastevere and the river. Hosts Marco and Gianna made us feel so at home. The style of the house was enchanting and comfortable - I especially liked the balconies looking out over rooftops and blossoming wisteria. Marco was a wealth of knowledge on where... More

The main reasons for staying at Arco de Tolomei are location and the warm hospitality and assistance of owner Marco. The guest house is located in the quiet area of Trastevere, just across the TIber, where you experience an authentic Rome and still enjoy an abundance of restaurants and activities. Marco can direct you to unique and fascinating historical and... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
