We loved our stay at Welcome House. The rooms were spacious and while the decor was old fashioned, everything was really well made and we felt great there. The location is super convenient- within walking distance from most of the important sites. The rooms were very well cleaned every day (props to the cleaner!). The receptionist was really nice and... This was my 3rd time staying at Welcome House. My last visit was 4 years ago. I am not sure if it was the specific room we stayed in this time or if the quality has dropped, but the room was not as nice as my previous stays. The shower drain was VERY slow and you had to be careful... More

We stayed for 5 nights in September there, enjoyed accommodation. Friendly and helpful staff, reasonable breakfast, cozy room. Walking distance from the train station and metro. A safe neighbourhood in the evening. Convenient location.Reasonable price. Will recommend it.

We recently stayed at the Welcome House for 3 nights and were stoked with our choice! The owner was really welcoming and very helpful from the start with great advice. The room was large and very clean with air conditioning that was really needed in the August heat. Free breakfast was provided each day which was inline with other continental... More

The host couldn't be any more helpful if she tried. She showed us to our room and it was all very pleasant. breakfast is self serve however they do provide fresh... More

We loved our stay here in June 2014. Staff is wonderfully accommodating and friendly. Family "suite" was 1 queen and 2 twins in one room, quaint with high ceilings, very clean, nice bathroom with tile shower. Comfortable beds and great air conditioning. Location is central and walking distance to all historical sites, with good restaurants and shopping close. Coffee and... More

The accomodation was fairly good despite the fact that the building is old... The room was very clean and spacious with great heating... All staff members are very helpful and cheerful... The location is absolutely perfect since it is very close to the center... We actually walked to all major sights with ease... Only drawback is that via Nazionale is... More

I stayed in the Welcome House in January 2014, we had such a great time and we couldn't fault it. I was staying with a friend and the room was substantial, (plenty of room for both of our things). The location is ideal, we walked everywhere, the Colosseum is less than twenty minutes walk away, as is the trevi fountain... More

During New Year's Eve, we were for the third time in Rome. The other two times we stayed at Domus Livia ( located in the same building on the 5th floor ), but now I couldn't find rooms available there. So we stayed for 4 nights at Welcome House, located on the 4th floor . We have had the opportunity... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
