Stayed at the Arena Guest House very recently with a friend. It is a very clean and tidy house & in a great location. Only 5 minutes walk to the Colosseum and metro station. The area around the guest house was quiet and we felt safe. Our hosts Vincent & Barbara were so friendly. I felt like I was staying... More

The Arena House is the perfect location for exploring Ancient Rome. We stayed there for two nights in September, 2014. Arena House is extremely close to the Colosseum and the Forum, and is also within walking distance of the Archbasilica St. John Lateran, the main cathedral of the city of Rome, and Basilica San Clemente, where you can view a... Our second time with Vincent and his wife, but with our 3 month baby this time. First time location, price, service the whole package was repeated 10 fold from the owners remembering us from our first visit and making us feel like we were family! The rooms are NOT small on the contoury Mrs Hilton diamond club or anyone else... More

Vincent and Barbara are very friendly and helpful. Vincent was very responsive to my email inquiries after I made a reservation. Upon arrival, Barbara gave us many instructions and tips including where to find free restrooms, good restaurants, bus routes, etc. The free breakfast at the next door hotel was decent, a free juice, coffee, bread, and another pastry for... Stayed here for 7 nights in June, 2014. It was our second time staying with Vincent and Barbara, the last being in 2010. I have to say that they are still as amazing as they were the first time we stayed with them. We were greeted with open arms like long lost friends, even though I can't imagine they remember... harrahtom What a great find. The owners, Vincent and Barbara and their daughter, made our stay in Rome a memorable one. They truly treated us like guest, not like the tourist larger places made us feel like. This included Barabar searching the neighborhood for crushed ice for my daughter when she had an upset stomach. For those that don’t know,... More

My husband, daughter and I stayed here in June. Close to sites (we walked everywhere except Vatican City), good restaurants and nice parks. The breakfast consisted of good coffee and a roll and jam. The staff helped us with whatever we needed. The room was clean and quiet and in a safe neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again!

The rooms are basic but very clean. There is a fridge, free wifi, air conditioning. The guest house is situated on an excellent location. But above all: the hosts are very friendly. They help you with anything.

Good value, small, mom & pop operation. Clean, comfortable, good location (right behind the Colosseum). Cornetto and coffee included at an adjacent hotel. We had a very pleasant experience. Some of the greatest detractors of small and otherwise good hotels in Rome is 1) location 2) NOISE, 3) lack of air conditioning, 4) cheap uncomfortable mattresses, 5) shower that's either... More

Just returned from a 3 day break in rome. Stayed at this lovely hotel which was a perfect location for our sight seeing. The facilities were basic but all you needed. The staff were more than helpful and gave us lot of good advice on avoiding queues, which buses to catch and what places to see. excellent value for those... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
