We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, over new year's. Everything was ok, the room was clean, bathroom too. After reading the rewiews on trip advisor we were a bit terrified and expected the worst from this hotel but were pleasantly surprised with it. It' s location is perfect, near train, bus and metro station, with nice staff and... More

We stayed in a triple room which comprised of a double and camp bed. Bathroom was bit tatty but plenty if hot water. Room was ok although you couldn't put anything on the floor as it was filthy but bedding was clean and fresh. Breakfast was ok.. Plenty of selection if you was the first in, so would advise as... This hotel was ideal for what we required. It was spotless, our rooms ample for what we required. The staff were extremely helpful and very honest. One of the students left her phone and e book and both were brought down to the foyer within 10 minutes by the friendly chambermaid. The breakfast was good with plenty of variety considering... I was on a recent school trip in February 2013 to Rome and read the reviews of this hotel and was really worried. Pupils also read them and were very anxious as were their parents I have no doubt. This hotel was completely fine. It was central and quite close to Termini station, the rooms were not cramped even with... More

I stayed here in the end of September/beginning of October 2012. This hotel is nothing fancy, but it was clean, the staff was friendly and my bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good and included assorted pastries, meat and cheese, fruit, juices and coffee. The staff at the front desk was friendly, but as I was with a group and... More

I stayed in hotel Lux with a school group last week. The hotel is certainly no 4-star hotel, but the fierce criticisms on the internet are grossly exaggerated. The rooms were OK, the staff was quite friendly, rooms were cleaned, there were ample clean towels, and breakfast was more than satisfactory. The hotel was in a quiet side-street, and a... More

Having stayed there in April 2012 with a school group i could recommend for similar groups. It is clean and basic accommodation and suitable for groups. If you are expecting luxury this is not the hotel but for a base while sight sighting it was ideal. Breakfast is basic but ample - Continental. Excellent location as it is about 5mins... More

This was without doubt the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. It was absolutely filthy. I have posted some photographs so that you can see the disgusting conditions I stayed in. It was advertised as a 4 star hotel - this should have said minus 4 stars.DON'T GO THERE!!!!! If you do you'll be sorry

We were booked into this hotel as part of a school's rugby tour which was visiting Rome - the boys were in a 3* and the lucky parents were put into this hotel as it was a 4*. Not sure where the star ratings come from, but it was a very poor advert for the starring system! On arrival we... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
