The walls in this hotel are paperthin. We were on the 5th (top) floor and could literally hear every word of our neighbours television sounds and conversation (that went on 'till one in the morning). The creaky elevator made a lot of noise too. The room, bed and bathroom were fine. Breakfast wasn't very nice. The 'cappucino' was a mixture... More

Hotel lux advertises as a 4 star hotel and with my experience in hotels iT deserves a 3 star rating. During my stay everything was positive . Very friendly staaf. Good breakfast with good diversity in food. THE location is near a metro station castro .

i travelled with family in 2014, the rooms were very small, not to fit 3 people, in one room we were 3 peson, 2 adults nd 1 child, there was hardly any space for mattress provided for the child. the reception lady was very rude over some confusion about the charges for child,,it was clarified ,but the way she handled... Don't go. Even for European standards very small room. Bathroom is the smalleat I have ever seen. Shower had mold in it. Beds were very small and linens were rough. No Wi-Fi in the rooms. Close to train station.

This was a perfect hotel to stay at to explore Rome , not fancy & a bit old fashioned but clean, comfy & great location with a good breakfast ! We stayed here 2 nights at the end of a 2 week European trip ! Very near the main terminal station for all bus , trains and metros! I recommend... More

This hotel has poor reviews and they are undeserved. This hotel decoration is slightly tired, but was certainly clean and maintained to a adequate condition. If you are expecting a four star property you will be disappointed; however for the price tag I don't think you will find better. The air condition was good. The showers were powerful and hot.... The best way to describe the Hotel Lux is average. I'm not sure how it got 4 stars but it certainly doesn't seem to deserve them. The reception staff were polite and helpful and check in was quick with no fuss. Whilst we were there the hotel guests seemed to be mainly tour groups. Rooms we a bit tired (marks... More

The Lux gets a tough time on here and I think having just returned from spending a week there, unjustifiably so. We brought a school party and were very comfortably and cleanly accommodated. The Reception staff could not have been more friendly or helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed. In short, for our purposes it could... More

Ok, so my experience of this hotel is probably slightly different to most people, as I was here on a school trip with 65 teenagers in tow. However in a way this gives me a better insight, as I got to see inside about 15 rooms! I would definitely stay here again if the aim of my holiday was to... More

We stayed there 4 nights. It is close to the Termini station which is good , but quite far to walk to the centre. The breakfast was was very basic and the breakfast lady there wasn't friendly enough. The room was ok to sleep only. I will never forget some finger prints on the wall and the mud on the... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
