Hotel Solis is a great value and a wonderful little family run hotel. The staff were very helpful, the facility spotless and well appointed and the location was excellent; just a 10 min walk from the train station and only two blocks from the Colosseum. There are excellent restaurants nearby, just behind the hotel the next street over, especially Taverna... More

We stayed in this hotel during spring break. We traveled to Rome, Florence and Venice, this is the best hotel we stayed in this trip. It is at the perfect location, right beside the Colosseum and center of everything. Hotel people are very friendly and thoughtful and they even provide big umbrellas for their guests. Very good breakfast with fresh... More

We stayed for one night and this hotel was in an excellent position, within walking distance of the Colosseum. Rooms were clean with good facilities including free WiFi Dining room was a bit small but hardly a deal breaker, you won't be disappointed.

Fabulous location just minutes from the coliseum, forum, palatine hill and the metro. Room isn't fancy or large but it is clean. Except for an argument the first day over the type of room booked (finally settled), the staff were great-friendly and helpful. I would stay again.

The Hotel Solis was perfectly situated for sight-seeing, being close to all the main attractions, The Vatican City the furthest away only about a 25 minute walk. Staff friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast was more than adequate, hot drinks could have been hotter, at times were just luke warm. Rooms were basic but clean, refrigerator in the room but no... More

The location of this hotel was key to seeing the sites in Rome. It is very close to the coliseum, the Forum and the city ruins; everything is within walking distance. The markets were close and provided a great place to buy cheese and wine to enjoy in room overlooking the excitement on Via Cavour. The close restaurants were very... More

I was at this hotel August 2014 and I just rebooked for August 2015. The location is great. It is walking distance to the Forum. There is a fabulous pub right across the street where you can get a porchetta sandwich and a moretti beer for 6 euros. There is a grocery store just up the street for basic supplies.... More

This hotel is very nicely located. It's very basic and the first night there was some kids in the other room and we could hear them. But the location is amazing being walking distance from most attractions. Hotel staff are friendly and breakfast was simple but sufficient

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
