The start of the trip was quite a disappointment. I had booked for smart b&b near the terminii station for easy access to the main station as we were going to stay there for only 2 nights and then moving on to Florence. However after finally managing to find the place, I was told that the b&b is undergoing renovation... More

B&B Smart was very easy to find and just around the corner from the train station. We were very impressed by how secure the building was. Isabella was a wonderful host, very friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Our room was very clean. The only thing we felt the room was lacking was a kettle. But... More

B & B Smart, Roma. Arrived mid day and Isabella greeted us and showed us to our room in rear facing courtyard. An excellent location. Very quiet. Our room had a bathroom inside . The room was extremely clean as all prior posts can attest to. Breakfast was served every morning at any time. Unfortunately, one morning we overslept and... More

What a great find. Very close to Termini station. Isabella was the perfect host. After a quick run down on all the sights it was off to dinner on her recommendation. Great. Thanks for making our stay in Rome great.....

We stayed there for a couple of nights and it was okay. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I don't think it was what my fiancee and I were expecting. There was nothing really wrong with the bed and breakfast, but it just seemed so bare, it was two cots pushed together, poor lighting and not very romantic.... More

Can not say enough about B & B Smart. Isabella was a perfect hostess. She greeted us at the lift, showed us our room and it just got better after that. The room was beautiful, she served us a great breakfast in our room every morning. When we returned each afternoon our room was clean, organized and refreshed. Isabella went... More

We stayed 6 nights with the perfect hostess, Isabella. She gave us maps and information on arrival and frequently asked whether there was anything we wanted. I asked to make an international phone call, for which she would not accept payment. When we did some washing in the room, she hung our clothes out on a clothes-line on the roof.... More

Excellent place to stay while in Rome. It is close to the Termini station and all attractions are easily accessible by either walking or taking the various forms of transit. Isabella is an excellent host and is very helpful with any questions you might have. The rooms are very reasonably priced. We arrived at her place a few hours early.... More

Me and some friends stayed here for four nights recently. Absolutely everything about the room was fantastic - it was immaculate, it was kept very cool by the A/C and the beds were very comfortable. Isabella went far beyond what she had to in order to make us happy. In addition to providing a perfect room, she gave us expert... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
