My wife and I highly recommend Nicolas Inn. Clean. comfortable and felt safe. Great value. Francois, Owner, offers warm hospitality, great restaurant recommendations and sight seeing tips. Hotel is a $8 Euro taxi trip from train station. Colosseum and Forum are 3 blocks away. Metro station is 2 blocks away to anywhere. Breakfast is included in the room rate at... More

Nicola Inn is located a stone's throw from the Colosseum and is hospitable, comfortable and helpful. Our thanks to Francois for helping to make our first visit to Rome so memorable. We'll be back! Rachel and Richard

This was my sister and I's first trip to Italy, and of the places we stayed we were most impressed by the Nicolas Inn. Melissa and Francois were fantastic and gave excellent recommendations for places to dine and sites to see. The rooms were spacious and delightful with large bathroom as well. If you are going to Rome this place... More

Thank you to the hotel owners for their hospitality and wonderful bed and breakfast accommodations. Great location, comfortable hotel and very helpful. Much appreciate the extra arrangements you set up as well (heater :)) ha, ha as it was unusually cold in Rome during our visit.

We were so happy to have stayed at the Nicholas Inn on our first visit to Rome. The "local knowledge" provided by Melissa was priceless, and just the kind of information you won't read in any tourist guidebooks. She gave us personalized attention that I have never experienced at any B&B or hotel; for example, I had a smoothie craving... More

My wife and I stayed at the Nicolas Inn in November for 3 nights. The room was very nice but nothing fancy although the bathroom was very small. The best part was the hospitality of the owners. The provided good information to help us while visiting Rome, arranged transportation, and had umbrellas for use when it was raining. One morning... More

This was our second trip to Rome. We stayed at Nicolas Inn for 5 nights during our trip to Rome and for one night before we left Italy. Rooms were clean and largely quiet for being on a city street. Ideally located for exploring the Coliseum and Roman Forum, just around the corner, within a short walk are other major... More

We will stay there again when we return to Rome. The location allowed us to easily access public transportation as well as the sights around the Coliseum and Forum by day and night. The breakfasts were fantastic and the travel tips from our hosts were excellent.

We just returned from our third trip to Italy since March 2012. Each time when in Rome we have stayed with Francois and Melissa at the Nicolas Inn. By now they feel like friends, and going up the steps to the entry door feels like coming home. I've written a review of the Inn before so this just serves to... More

What a cool place to stay. Two blocks from the Colosseum and other ancient sites! Lical restaurants were fabulous. We knew we were in Rome. Although located on a major street, noise was never an issue. They had super insulated windows, so there was no traffic noise. We loved opening them wide and feeling/hearing the flavor of Rome. The staff... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
