My wife and I stayed at the Nicolas Inn in November for 3 nights. The room was very nice but nothing fancy although the bathroom was very small. The best part was the hospitality of the owners. The provided good information to help us while visiting Rome, arranged transportation, and had umbrellas for use when it was raining. One morning... More

This was our second trip to Rome. We stayed at Nicolas Inn for 5 nights during our trip to Rome and for one night before we left Italy. Rooms were clean and largely quiet for being on a city street. Ideally located for exploring the Coliseum and Roman Forum, just around the corner, within a short walk are other major... More

We will stay there again when we return to Rome. The location allowed us to easily access public transportation as well as the sights around the Coliseum and Forum by day and night. The breakfasts were fantastic and the travel tips from our hosts were excellent.

We just returned from our third trip to Italy since March 2012. Each time when in Rome we have stayed with Francois and Melissa at the Nicolas Inn. By now they feel like friends, and going up the steps to the entry door feels like coming home. I've written a review of the Inn before so this just serves to... More

What a cool place to stay. Two blocks from the Colosseum and other ancient sites! Lical restaurants were fabulous. We knew we were in Rome. Although located on a major street, noise was never an issue. They had super insulated windows, so there was no traffic noise. We loved opening them wide and feeling/hearing the flavor of Rome. The staff... More

During our recent visit to Rome we stayed at the Nicolas Inn. We found this property through the Rick Steves Italy travel book. The initial contact and subsequent email communication with Francois was very timely and informative. The location, close to the Colosseum and Termini train station, yet generally a residential area, was excellent. Melissa was extremely knowledgeable and made... More

I can only echo the very positive comments written by previous reviewers. After a week long tour of the Amalfi Coast we added three nights in Rome and couldn't have been happier with the hospitality and attention to detail offered by Melissa and Francois. They clearly love what they do and take pleasure to ensure a comfortable stay for their... More

We had the good fortune of spending 3 nights at Nicholas Inn and are so glad we did. I must admit, after reading all the other reviews all I can say is that we agree wholeheartedly! Anything I would say has already been said...great location, fantastic hospitality, wonderful dining recommendations....you get the idea! We will definitely recommend Nicholas Inn to... More

We stayed at the 4 room Nicolas Inn for 8 nights at the end of a 6 week European adventure. This 1st floor B & B has only 4 rooms run personally in all respects by hosts Francois & Melissa. Their friendly attention to guest comfort and information is top class and the well equipped rooms are spacious, clean and... More

Great location. Francois and Melissa were both very helpful and friendly. We felt well cared for. The room was very clean and.comfortable. We were there on my husband's birthday and they went out of their way to make it special for him.

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
