I booked the hotel after seeing the photos and rating in booking dot com. But when I arrived at the hotel it was really a bad day of my vaccation. The rooms are not the same as shown in the photos. The AC was not cooling the room at all. Me and my family could not sleep the whole night... More

Clean room and comfortable bed, friendly staff, good location, good breakfast. Small family run business. Only downside was not really their fault. They booked us a taxi to Ciampino airport for 30 euros, taxi driver charged us 55.

I have just returned from a 3 day stay at the Hotel Gea Di Vulcano and all I can say is wow. The hotel is set inside a beautiful, typically Romanesque building, at the enterance there is a beautiful fountain and a set of stunning marble stairs and for those who are shattered after a long day exploring Rome there... My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights during our visit to Rome. We were very impressed! The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was spotless. The hotel is very secure. You have to buzz through one door and a gate before entering the building. The location was perfect. Walking distance to absolutely everything. The room we... More

We come here on a regular basis. Hotel was recently renovated. Cleanliness and location cannot be beat. This is a 3 star hotel that I would rather consider 4 star. Staff is awesome, breakfast is above average especially considered it is included!

We had an excellent stay at Hotel Gea. The location is ideal as it is very close to both Repubblica Metro Station as well as Roma Termini, in addition to being surrounded by very good restaurants all within walking distance. Most of Rome's breathtaking sights are also within walking distance (10-15 minutes) as well. As other reviewers have commented, finding... More

My memories of Rome are inextricably intertwined with those of GEA di Vulcano. The hotel is absolutely centrally located, a short walk from the Colosseum and the Forum and only a slightly longer one from the Trevi fountain. Our room was large, comfortable and homey. The are around the hotel is a bit touristy but Alessandra, who's part owner of... More

This hotel is located close the the main rail terminal and is well placed for exploring Rome. Our room was clean and comfortable with furnished adequately. The ensuite was modern and again spotlessly clean throughout our stay. The lady who served our breakfast was very friendly and the food on offer was good. The home baked ciabatta rolls were the... I'll start by saying if you need a quick stay, it's ok, but more than that go to another neighbourhood, this area, because of its proximity to Terminal, it's full of tourist traps, average to less than ave food, SUPER overpriced. The pictures make it seem like it's a big place, but seriously, it is the second floor of a... More

The hotel is very well located near the rebullica metro station. The hotel is a little difficult to find at first, but fine once you are familiar with it. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby too. Staff were generally very helpful although asking for another pillow I got a sceptical look. Biggest drawbacks are an average breakfast and if you... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
