We are experienced travellers both 60 years of age. We prefer to spend on good food & wine & touristy things so hotels are usually 2 star. Il covo is one of the better around europe. The front staff were great & could not have been more helpful. 4 flights of stairs didn't bother us, a typical character european room,... more

In Italy, not all of the rooms in a B&B need be in the same building... but from the quiet alley shown on their website, we were taken to a room 250m away on the main road, Via Cavour. Traffic thundered past all night and the single glazing and broken shutter did nothing to drown out the noise. We didn't... more

First impressions were not great. Room was a good size but quite basic with a big stain on the ceiling. Bathroom was very good. Lot of steps to climb to it though. But after a while it grew on us and we absolutely loved it. Location is superb, it was great to have breakfast while watching the world go by.... more

It was very roomy, nice place. Just a walk down the street and there was the Coliseum!! Cleaning staff come a bit early but they take care of everything very well! Smokers are welcome! Nice location! Lots of cafes near by and things are easy to get around to. The only thing that was a bit bad, No heater.... It... more

zero insulation-it was the draftiest, coldest room ever. I'm now sick over it. They moved us to a room 4 blocks away from where I rented. NO PHONE!!!! They excuse it by saying that they're a bed & breakfast. The bed was horribly noisy, and uncomfortable, and the breakfast was laughable! Don't do it. I thought it would be worth... more

We loved the location and the character of the rooms we had. As we were two couples we had two rooms - one with a separate bedroom, bathroom and small sitting room and the other a bedroom and bath - they shared a common hallway door, but you still had your inside doors for privacy. All in all a very... more

Great location, lots of stairs no elevator and the breakfast was very poor!!!! If you wanted another cup of coffee or a croissant you need to pay extra. Airco , bathroom and refrigerator were okay. more

We were met by the host on arrival. He was very helpful but we did not get his name. We were taken to the room, a short walk from Il Covo (originally a restaurant but used as an office during our stay). Our triple room was on the second floor. The bathroom consisted of a shower, toilet and washbasin. Everything... more

Il Covo is in a great location (5 mins from Colosseum), in a great little neighborhood with gelatterias, bars and restaurants. The B&B has rooms spread out over several buildings, but the room we stayed in was right next to the restaurant. We were on the first floor, at the back, right next to the laundry area, but could not... more

recently renovated. Clean sheets and shower place. next to good restuarants. Host was friendly and informative. Service was pleasant. However, we stayed on the ground floor, and were disturbed all night by the passing traffic and talking noise outside. TV reception was poor, there were only 2 channels available. Overall good value, but do request to stay on higher floor... more
