I booked the hotel first, then read the reviews and most of them were awful - so had prepared myself for a very bad experience. But when we saw our room, we were pleasantly surprised - not only the room was spacious enough, the washroom was okay, the AC worked fine and the window opened to the street below. Philipo... More

Unfortunately the reviews on booking.com, don't seem to be realistic. Wish I had checked tripadvisor before booking with them! It is more like a hostel than a B & B! Windows don't close as there is a loud portable air condition vented outside. No mini fridge, no telephone. Their breakfast consists of a warm to hot juice box and a... More

Room and bathroom were clean. Air conditioner works very well. Our complains are about the annoying noise of the doorbell and the door opening, that you can here like it is right next to your ears, you can hear this since 04:30 am. Breakfast was absolutely poor, you will find croissants (4 and very old), 2 little boxes of juice... More

We didn't actually live in Via Napoleone. After I paid we were informed that our room is in another building. It wasn't far away fortunately, so the location was still good. Another surprise waiting for us inside was a really terrible bathroom (3 sqm maybe) with toilet under the shower (!) and lots of mold, which was super-disguisting. Toilet seat... More

This is a very noisy place. The rooms and washrooms are clean but the place very noisy. I had to leave one day early due to the noise as I did not sleep. When I arrived it was very hard to find and the receptionist was out. I had ot wait 15 minutes before a person came..

Coming here expecting a hotel, but instead it was a cosy B&B. We booked here for 3nights and had no problems at all! Although on arrival we couldnt find it as its not clearly sign posted even thou its 5mins from the Termal station. The man who runs the B&B was very helpful and friendly, each morning we got croissants... More

We spend the first night in a cold room (in January, the temperature in... More

While the operator of this space is incredibly sweet and helpful, coming here expecting a hotel will leave you confused. It is really easy to miss as it is located in a building with no sign. The room is great for young travelers or backpackers - or people that are interested in a hostel feel. Coming as a family we... More

Roma Balance has all of the basics. It is less than a five minute walk from Termini train station and the metro. The rooms are clean, functional, and relatively spacious. Linen, towels, toilet paper, soap, body wash, and hair dryer are provided. The man who runs the hotel was very friendly and accommodating, and delivered coffee and croissants to our... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
