This was not my original choice. I was walked to this hotel for overbooking at my original reservation. They have a complimentary breakfast which sufficed, meats, cheeses, breads, quiches, coffee. Overall what I needed from a hotel. Staff was nice and accommodating, especially after breaking my camera and recommending where to take it to repair it. I probably won't book... More

Were worried due to previous comments on what we would find, but we had no problems, room was clean, bed and bedding top notch and comfortable. Staff were pleasant. We had room 304 and bathroom was spotless. For what we paid (45 euros a night) it was very good value, would we go again, YES

Me and the hubby stayed here one night while in transit. We booked it upon arrival in Italy on Booking.com. It was a total of $56.00 . Some of the rooms have private bathrooms and some have shared bathrooms. There is not a luggage storage but they kept our bags in their office while we went into the city. The... More

Well I got sucked in by the cheap prices and ok reviews for this dump. Actually dump is too kind. Noisy, smelly uncomfortable. The shower is nothing more than a dribble that takes 5 mins to get luke warm. Reception guy is a total knob, clueless and uneducated who gave me change consisting of a handful of small coins. Location... More

Great spot for main terminii and getting into town - we walked over Rome from here as our base. The room was small but clean, Clean towels every day. A kettle to make Tea or coffee would have been good but given all we did is sleep there it was good value.

Worst stay of my Italian holiday, thank god it was just 1 night, could not have survived any more. First of all its in a horrible block with 2 or 3 other hotels. 3 very dark steep floors to get to the reception. There is a lift but it's so old it looked unsafe to use. Once you get to... More

There was not any refridgerator. There was not any soap. The receptionists usually were absent. Pavel one of the receptionists was polite enough. The lady(probably the owner) The room was too small. The seets and the towels have wholes. I have to ask twice to get toilet paper.

Stayed here 1 night and 1 night was more than enough. The bed was comfortable. The room was filthy. Dust all around the edges of the skirtings. The ceiling fan when turned on spread an enormous cloud of dust all over the bed and the rest of the room. The bathroom floor was flooded upon arrival. The water was coming... More

Location was ok. Staff was unfriendly and spoke poor English. Bathroom was old and dirty (hairs on toilet seat, in the shower and sink), mirror with white stains and smears, the plastic shower doors had toothpaste splashes on the exterior, there was mould between most of the tiles, the desk in the room was sticky and had stains, as did... I've stayed at Hotel Castelfidardo on all my trips to Rome since 2007, first as a woman traveling alone and then with family. I love the fact that you can get a clean, affordable single, double, or triple only a few blocks from Termini station. Termini is Rome's major train/metro/bus hub that gets you all over Rome and, indeed Europe.... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
