I cannot recommend this B&B enough! Staying here is what made our trip to Rome truly memorable. Vecchia Roma Resort is located about 5-10 minutes away from the Colosseum and in a quiet and safe neighborhood that feels very separated from the bustle of Rome. We were greeted by Marco who immediately welcomed us, showed us our room, and then... More

From the second we arrived, Marco was a very attentive host and gave us lots of advice for the best places to eat and how to make the most of the tourist attractions. The location was perfect and the room were very clean and tidy. Of all the places we stayed on our month long travels, none had the hospitality... More

It is located in a serene and secure neighborhood, very close to the taxi station, and the underground train station. The Resort is the ancient Roman sites. This place is probably one of the best places to stay in Rome if not in Europe. Might not be the cheapest B&B but Marco (owner) provides you with a very clean and hospitable stay including breakfast in the oldest neighborhood in Rome. Since he is a true Roman and worked in the Vatican for many years, he knows basically... More

Vecchia Roma Resort is a highly recommendable B & B in Rome. It is located very near the ancient Roman sites and for me travellelling for my work it is one block from the FAO building where I attended a conference. However, the main attraction is the host Marco who offers a fantastic service to his guests. When I arrived... More

Thanks Christian, I was very pleased to know you. Unfortunately, you could not have much time to visit the city, because of your work! I apologize for the mishap about your departure. Unfortunately, the driver had a small accident. This was the reason for his absence! I'm still happy that we were able to solve everything! Thanks again, Marco More

The Vecchia Roma Resort is very well located both to visit Rome (10-minute walk to the Colosseum) and if you have meetings at FAO. The rooms are simple, clean and bright. The "cornetti" served at breakfast are great. But the highlight of Vecchia Roma Resort is certainly the host, Marco, who made our stay with a 10-month old baby very... More

Marco was very welcoming to this centrally located residence in the Aventino neighborhood. There was easy access to metro and bus service and it was an easy walk to the Colosseo. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was great.

We arrived to a very warm welcome from Marco. We caught the Metro from Rome Termini to Circo Massimo and the apartment is then 5 minutes away. Marco gave us loads of suggestions of where to eat, buses to catch for the Vatican, etc. The apartment is 10 mins, if that, from the Colosseum so was ideally situated for visiting... More

Marco is a very helpful host and knows Rome like the back of his hand. I wish I had had more time to talk to him. Our room was roomy and the bed comfortable. The whole place was clean. We walked everywhere from there but there are also trams and busses nearby. I hope to be back one day.

Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
