We had a very pleasant comfortable stay here in this clean, spacious apartment located in a leafy quiet avenue near the Colosseum. Marco was an excellent host; taking good care of us, giving good tips on what sights to see, how to walk around Rome, where to eat, he even specially drove us to our sistine tour meeting place as... Vecchia Roma Resort is in a fantastic location, a little away from the centre of Rome and the busy Piazza Navona. It is very close to Circo Massimo and ten minutes walk to the Colosseum. There are gardens and trees in this area; you feel like a local not a tourist! The metro is only five minutes walk away. Marco,... More

I loved staying here. Marco, the host, is just a lovely person who really cares about your experience both at the Vecchia Roma Resort and in the city. I stayed for 7 nights in the single room which was perfect for me; cool, comfortable and spotlessly clean with a great bathroom. The Aventino location is perfect; gorgeous leafy neighbourhood very... Looking for a hotel in the vicinity of historical Rome and the FAO premises, this was the only hotel that could offer a room (OK - I was pretty late). I booked, and the next morning I went to the airport. Arriving Rome and the hotel´s address after dark, I couldn´t spot anything reminding me of a hotel. The taxi... More

Hello Thor, your stay was really short and ....... unfortunately a business trip! Fortunately, the birds did they forget ..... the reason for your trip! The next time you look for a leisurely stay and help you learn something ...... besides the FAO building! Thanks again and hope to soon, Marco More

I stayed at Vecchia Roma Resort this past July for about 9 days. It is located just a short walk from the Circo Massimo Metro station, providing easy access to different parts of the city. Marco was an incredibly accommodating host and always went out of his way to make me feel at home. He provided a great breakfast each... More

A great place to stay, with a fabulous host. Easy quick access to all the sights. On arrival we asked if it was worth trying the hop on hop off bus. Marco kindly drew a couple of routes taking us past all the sights. His knowledge of the city was excellent. He gave excellent advice on where the locals eat,... More

The b&b is conveniently located in a residential neighborhood near Circo Massimo subway station. From the b&b it's about a 20 minute walk to the Colleseum and the city center beyond. It was pleasant to stay someplace away from the crowded tourist center. Upon recommondation from Marco, the hospitable owner of the b&b, we tried several restaurants in the close-by... More

I agree with all the reviews. Excellent accomodation as a bed and breakfast. Super close to the Colosseum, ancient Rome and a major train station, but in a quiet leafy suburb. Marco the host is wonderful - great introduction and advise and amazing breakfasts (I am a vegetarian, and one day he spent the whole afternoon cooking for me!!).There are... More

i agree with all that Maarteen 1979 said in his review. It was our first visit to Rome, and Marco, our host, was very accommodating. He volunteered to take my husband and me to the Vatican on the "free Sunday" so that we could get in line early. He suggested a quiet park for a picnic above the Tiber which... More

Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
