Nice hotel in a pretty good location since basically equidistant to all major sites in Rome, but then again a fairly long walk to most of them too. Except only a block away is the Diocletian Baths and museum, as well as a large church with stunningly beautiful interior that was designed by Michelangelo into the bath complex which is... More

I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Rome where my husband and I stayed at this hotel. The staff on reception where very helpful and friendly. The reception area itself is very small but adequate. As I was ill on arrival, my husband asked their advice re calling in a doctor but after speaking with them they suggested... More

Okay we picked the Independant cause it had a roof terrace, and as we were training it we wanted to be near the train station, also in 3 days we wanted walking access to Colesseum, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, Trevi, Spanish Steps and The Vatican. So first off location wise for a practical stop over it was perfect. When we... More

We stayed one night at The Independent to be close to Termini to catch an early morning airport train. It was a great choice. The rooms were comfortable (though rooms on the street side do have a continuous low rumble of traffic noise). The roof bar is fantastic and even makes the expensive drinks worth every cent. Unfortunately we weren't... More

This was a great hotel. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Staff and service were very good. Hotel was very clean and food was very good. Would highly recommend this hotel for anybody staying in Rome, very close to Termini station and very accessible.

We are just about to leave Rome after a four night visit staying at the Independent Hotel. This small, friendly hotel has well equipped rooms with tea and coffee, complimentary drinks in the room, great linen and a well organised, spacious bathroom. Everything is modern, clean and really well designed. On the 8th floor, there is a breakfast room, which... More

My family booked 3 rooms. Rooms just renovated, large room than average hotels in the neighborhood. They are as nice as pictures shown. Staff provided great service. We all like breakfast and service. Great roof top overlook view. Took many pictures.

My husband and I were raving about this hotel after a 2 nights stay here. This is the only hotel in Europe which we have booked that supplied us with a baby play pen without request since we have indicated that we will be staying with an infant. Thumbs up for great service. The roof offers fantastic view of the... More

This is a great hotel . It is quiet with spacious rooms and beautiful bathrooms which are all immaculately clean. However the best thing about this hotel is the roof top terrace which is used for breakfast then as a bar in the evening. It was so peaceful watching the sunset whilst enjoying the beautiful sights of the city and... More

Lovely hotel, Very clean, Perfect location. ALL reception staff were very helpful and friendly, when ever we needed to know where was the best places to go to eat, they had it spot on when recommending a new place 2mins from where the hotel was. We walked almost everywhere which was a great way to explore Rome. I recommend hoping... More

    Staying in Esquilino

    Neighborhood Profile
    Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
