Modern facilities, friendly staff, handy location - all the things we experienced when we stayed at the Independent Hotel. Our room was pretty small (king size bed, couch), separate bathroom (again pretty small but modern) - but we weren't planning to spend much time in the room anyway so didn't concern us. Would stay there again based on it's great... More

We just got back from an amazing 5 days in the incredible city which is Rome. We decided on the independent, mainly due to its location and its rooftop terrace. Both of which didn't disappoint. The hotel is a very short walk from the main railway termini, this is also where you can catch most of the buses and also... More

This hotel has a great location, just 3 minutes walk to Rome central termini station. The staff is very professional, extremely friendly and is eager to help in assisting you on your stay. The rooms are great and the breakfast on the roof top bar is first class. There are also lots of really good mom and pop restaurants in... More

Really fantastic hotel, perfect location as just minutes from the Termini, where the Metro is which takes you to every location accross the city. Staff are awesome especially Cosimo. The rooms are very clean and modern, we were even given a free upgrade on arrival! and breakfast on the roof top terrace is the most perfect way to start your... More

This hotel is modern and the staff are so helpful. We got a free upgrade which was awesome. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Close to the train station which is really handy. They rooftop bar/restaurant is absolutely awesome. Loved going up there at night and having a few cocktails outside and enjoying the view. I highly recommend this... More

Great location just a 5 minute walk from the Central Termini Train Station. Reception desk really helpful with maps and recommendations in the immediate area but also advise on where to go and best way to get there. Reception is tiny as is the elevator but don't let this be your first impression. The rooms were huge with plenty of... More

The great thing about this hotel is its proximity to the Central railway station in Rome. Its a ten minute walk from the Central railway station. We arrived by train from Venice. The hotel is clean. The rooms are nice and clean. Good amenities. Some rooms are bigger and more spacious. Ours wasn't as big as some of our friend's... More

Myself and my husband stayed here this month for a long weekend and I can't recommend this hotel enough! It is very modern and tastefully decorated throughout. We were welcomed by extremely friendly staff who were very knowledgable and recommended restraints and sights which were off the tourist map. Simone was so helpful and took the time to talk to... We stayed here for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon, it is handily situated near the main Termini rail and Metro station. It is a compact hotel as a whole but the room we had on the 6th floor was lovely and spacious, with a Queen sized bed and a balcony. The air con in the room was very... More

We were in Italy for a wedding in Gallinaro but we didn't want to go all that way without taking in the sights. The independent Hotel is a short walk from Roma Central railway station. First impressions were of a very cramped reception with a desk that was about 3 feet long with a not much wider corridor passing it... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
