We stayed here for three nights, choosing this property because it is so close to Termini station (about 2 blocks). The location turned out to be a short walk from other major sites like the Colosseum and Forum, and very near a main road. We did not have any of the issues of the previous reviews (with the overbooking), but... More

We stayed here for one full week. The hotel, breakfast area and rooms are very clean. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is beautiful and includes exceptional coffee choices. Lots of fruits, vegetables, pastries, eggs, and deli trays. We walked to everything from here. It is fairly close to the coliseum, Roman Forum, Basilica Maggiore and is... More

We arrived at the Hotel Demetra later in the afternoon (5PM) to check in for a 4 night stay and were told by the polite girl at the front desk (Elena) that our room had "broken pipes" and we would have to stay at a different Hotel "not too far" away. She assured us it was a comparable "4 star"... More

Stayed here 6/10-13. Very nice hotel and great location. Near the Tremini Train station. Lots of places to eat nearby. The hotel is small but very nice. Our room was small but adequate. Very quiet. The bathroom is beautiful. Great shower. Very nice breakfast. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Would stay again

May family and I stayed here last week - it was the only part of our week in Italy that we regretted! There was no bellman to help us with our bags when we arrived or when we left - we (including my 75 year old mother) had to lug her bags up and down steps to get to the... More

My husband and I stayed here for a 5 night break in August 2014. We chose this hotel because it had great reviews and it is within walking distance from the train station. When we arrived the staff at reception were very nice but we were informed there was a problem with our room so we stayed in a very... More

This very well run hotel was easy to find and a good base to explore Rome. The front desk staff was attentive and helpful. English was spoken by the staff and we were made to feel comfortable. Our room was extremely small and was difficult for two. The bathroom was very nice and was almost the same size as the... More

I am rating Demetra Hotel a 5 for a few reasons. The first night we arrived there was a mistake with our room but the way the member of staff on dealt with it and the hotel the next day left me happy that they were trying to make sure we were happy. It is in a perfect location around... More

Before getting to the Hotel this was my first visit to Rome and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of going. I had a great few days in the beautiful city and would definitely go back. The Location is very central to everything. Walking distance to the Coliseum and also to Vatican City if you feel like a... More

This hotel is in the perfect location for those visiting Rome for the first time. As a first time traveler it was so comforting that the hotel was within walking distance of the Colosseum, Roman Forum, great restaurants, museums and even the metro. The room was pretty small, but my husband and I were out and about all day -... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
