Nice hotel, small rooms but just enough, good air conditioning (a must in Italy in the summer!!), really nice employees/service. Would stay here again. Modern, clean, and located just minutes from the Termini Station. Recommended!

We had 2 rooms here for one night. The rooms were very, very small -- New York small. The bathrooms were decent-sized though. The CO Bigelow toiletries (shampoo, body wash, moisturizer, but no conditioner -- conditioner does not seem to be widely available in Italy) were nice. There was good water pressure in the shower. The staff were helpful, making... More

When he driver dropped us off in the front of the hotel I saw the building an thought I had made a horrible mistake. walked in side of this old building with I am sure is the way it look when Mousallini was still in power but after I got out of the old elevator and walked around the corner... We stayed four nights arriving at midnight. The reception is on the first floor and is not well signed but check in was quick and staff were helpful. The room had just been completely refurbished and was quite nice. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast was adequate though nothing special. Very quiet hotel with good air conditioning and opening windows. Wifi was... More

Just around the corner from the Termini, which allows use of all local transport to all the attractions, clean, comfortable bedrooms. Free wifi, good buffet breakfast and very friendly staff, what more could you want.

We were a party of 6 traveling together - we had booked through a travel agent - so we had no issues checking in as others have indicated - lovely staff, so attentive with any questions we may have had. The elevators are often small in Europe due to the age of the buildings, they are retrofit, so luggage will... More

We stayed here for three nights, choosing this property because it is so close to Termini station (about 2 blocks). The location turned out to be a short walk from other major sites like the Colosseum and Forum, and very near a main road. We did not have any of the issues of the previous reviews (with the overbooking), but... More

We stayed here for one full week. The hotel, breakfast area and rooms are very clean. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is beautiful and includes exceptional coffee choices. Lots of fruits, vegetables, pastries, eggs, and deli trays. We walked to everything from here. It is fairly close to the coliseum, Roman Forum, Basilica Maggiore and is... More

We arrived at the Hotel Demetra later in the afternoon (5PM) to check in for a 4 night stay and were told by the polite girl at the front desk (Elena) that our room had "broken pipes" and we would have to stay at a different Hotel "not too far" away. She assured us it was a comparable "4 star"... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
