The woman that ran this hostel was so kind! She spoke broken english and i spoke broken italian, so we made it work! she let me in during lock out hours since my train came in later than anticipated. She cleaned the room and the bathroom every day, which was a relief. The building was relatively secure. and the other... More

Stayed here for four days. Close to everything because termini is right across the street, but it can also be loud at night! As other people said, there are a lot of Asian girls staying there (no problem with that), but they didn't speak English and there is no common room so some days I spoke to no one all... More

I loved being here. The hostel is a easy find right across from Termini station so that makes it easy to get to places. Like others has said it's basically an apartment someone has changed into a hostel. You email the lady when you are to arrive and when you find the place (just a giant green door on the... More

I stayed here in June 2014, it's really close to the train station. It's a very convenient location, but it also make for a lot of cat calling. I had a lot of difficulty getting situated into the hostel, there wasn't a staff member at the hostel. I'd just gotten off a flight so it was frustrating to wait to... More

This hostel is located right by the Termini station which makes it perfectly positioned for travelling around Rome by train/bus. It is also very easy to get to/from the airport. The hostel is basically a subdivided apartment within an apartment block. It is very basic but clean. There isn't anyone on site to deal with issues but the landlady is... More

I stayed 3 nights in this hostel while travelling by myself. It was very warm, but the airconditioner does it's job well. The hostel is very clean and comfortable with very good free wifi. There is no reception, but if you give the correct arrival time a lady will open the door for you. The hostel is literally across Termini... More

Coconuts is advertised to females but located right outside is always a bunch of men loitering which can be quite offputting in the dark. It is located right next to termini which is really convenient and like most hostels is walking distance to alot of the major sights. The room itself was good and the bathroom ok. The lockers were... Wonderful hostel! It is located literally next to the train station so it is easy to take the public transit anywhere you want to go. Free coffee in the mornings. Very comfy beds. Very clean. Only downside is that you need to pay in cash, but there is an atm at the train station. Also, plenty of places to eat... More

Coconuts is a nice, pretty safe hostel for lone female travellers (and groups! I met a lot of girls travelling together there, but about 50% of us seemed to be staying alone). In my room there were two bunk beds and two singles - lone travellers are usually given a single which is nice. There's really big lockers and a... More

I am still new to hostels so I was very hesitant of this one after booking it on a whim while planning a last minute trip by myself. Altho it was hard for me to find it from the street. (There is no sign outside) The hostel room was very large and clean. You get your own locker and cozy... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
